I've looked into this a bit and there are two main obstacles: 1) most schools have a two year residency requirement for transfers (meaning you have to spend your final two years at the law school) and 2) you usually need some compelling reason to be a visiting student. With respect to the residency requirement, I'm aware of several transfers at my school who will be studying abroad so there may be some leeway to the requirement (depending on the school?); perhaps it was because of they would only be gone for one semester. The compelling-reason requirement is usually a pretty strict requirement for visiting students from what I've heard as well.
