Should I transfer

Here's the quick and dirty....I need to make a decision by tomorrow and I am still on the fence.

I currently attend LSU, and pay nothing in tuition, but I am unable to work while there and take out loans for living.
I applied for transfer to the local university, Stetson, where I intend to live and currently date someone in Tampa. I have lived in Tampa for 5 years now, and I love the city and state. However, I was given absolutely no money to attend. Since I have so many transfer credits from LSU I only need to go part time and do one summer to graduate on time. This means tuition is about 24,000 for the year and 6,000 for the summer. Additionally, in Tampa I have a job clerking that has already expressed the desire to retain me for the year; meaning living expenses level out. Stetson also requires 60 hours of pro bono, which LSU does not

So in short the financials are nearly equivelant with a neglible difference. I never have the intention of living in Louisiana. Just curious to see what the masses say.

Be advised that most law schools will not take more than 32 transfer credits, if even that many. Thus, you would have two full years left at Stetson.

I'm not retarded :-) ....I went to the registrar and went through this process.... Stetson requires a smaller credit load. As I previously said, all calculated I need 2 years part time and one summer.

Lol, I might actually know you. I live in Tampa too and have lots o friends at LSU and Stetson.....

In regards to your question, even though stetson is 3rd or 4th tier, it has a decent reputation and job prospects within FL as long as you work hard and get near the top of your class.

That, and the fact of your private life, makes me think that you should go for assuming you can make it to the top of your class with law review.

Moved to transfers forum.

Why did you go to LSU if you have no intention of living in Louisiana?

Even without being at the top of my class I feel as if coming out of Stetson or LSU in the middle it's probably better to have gone to Stetson if I am looking for a job in Florida. There is at least networking opportunities.

Yes, you should transfer because the primary purpose of attending law school is to get a position as an attorney & you have done so in Tampa---which is where you want to live & work after law school.
