I received a scholarship for my 1L and will be transferring out. Can my 1L school make me repay the scholarship amount?

What would make you think this is possible?

Apparently some schools make scholarships revert to loans if you transfer out (my friend at Cal Western told me that this is what CW does).

That's some serious bullshit.

I'm sure if they can, it must have been part of the agreement you made originally.

If you post the name of the school, someone here might know. (Not me. I don't know of such a thing anywhere.)

I remember seeing some students raising concern when I was applying to 1L a year ago. Wasn't sure if it was true or not though.

That doesn't make any sense. Was there a contract you signed when getting your scholarship or any sort of form with disclaimers that came with it? You could definitely seek legal action if they really do that. Is there something that gives you the idea that they would? If I were you, I'd try and track down past transfers from your school who were also on scholarship their first year and see what they have to say about it. It shouldn't be too hard to do so on TLS or just by asking around among your school friends.
