I agree with this. American is overrated. It costs way too much and since you're transferring you'll be paying sticker. Also, American is not really in DC. Technically it's within the borders but it's closer to MD than the heart of DC. GW would be a better option if you can get in.jstubbs wrote:I would imagine you would get in, though I have no idea about transferring. I was wondering why you didnt at least try to shoot of GW? No animosity, only curiosity (the best osity I believe)
*killing time at work...
In this case I would transfer to American. If costs are equal then it makes sense to go to American over Hofstra/Rutgers. While I do mean what I said in my earlier post about American, American still has a pretty good alumni base in DC.mardilloe27 wrote:I was planning on trying GWU if I made it to top 15%, maybe if top 20%, but figured that would be a stretch and decided against it after seeing my class rank at top 25%. From what I understood GWU would have been a stretch.
The cost of American v. my current school would be about the same.
My transfer application status has finally been updated as "Complete" at American and I noticed I have been checking online a little too much. I'm sure I will hear back shortly, just wondering what people thought my chances were.

I disagree. I think you are probably at Cardozo.mardilloe27 wrote:I am at a school with a USNEWS ranking between 80-85, in the NYC region (so probably Hofstra or Rutgers).
Finished 1L year top 25% (made significant improvements from first to second semester, if that would matter).
I have applied to transfer to American University Washington College of Law. (USNEWS rank 50).
Was wondering what anyone thought about my transfer chances or if other people had information about making similar transfers.
Nope, by email, followed by status checker, and then snail mail a few days later with the official letter. Letter was in small envelope, with three sheets of paper tri-fold.NorthFace wrote:Mocobrowncoat, i'm assuming you received notification via regular mail?
Is there any info out there on # of transfer applicants/stats for American?
