0L w/ a legitimate H <--> Y question for the 1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls

First and foremost, I am aware that 0Ls are not allowed to post here. I get that. Seriously. I do.

My question is not about a transfer prospect but just to gauge some opinions from current and former law students at either H or Y.

1. Do post-1Ls ever transfer from after 1L from H to Y or vice-versa from Y to H?

2. What are some reasons for doing so? (eg - geographic? family? personal? job prospects? combined program choice, for example, Harvard's business school is ranked much higher than Yale's School of Management?, etc?)

3. In the case of Yale where there is no grades (or ranking?), how does Harvard assess a transfer candidate's caliber?

4. Anything else?

Again, this is just a casual inquiry for informative purposes. That's all.

Would be really silly to transfer from H to Y or vice versa. I am sure people have done it, but very few would consider it. Your prospects are better if you don't transfer. With that said, a H or Y student who does well enough to transfer (probably top 30-50%) is in decent shape either way.

Here are some thoughts from someone who transferred from Harvard to Yale.

The above article seems to dismiss the common notion that "compelling reasons" are necessary for transfers (i.e. if the author of the article mentioned this: "I understood that that nagging feeling was regret, coupled with the suspicion that, while I was not unhappy at HLS, I could be happier somewhere else" as her chief motivation for transferring.)

OP: With the reading comprehension skills like you possess, I doubt you'll be in a position where you have to make this call.

But you might find some answers to your questions here...

It sure does not look that way.
