It's do-able at Berkeley.

Most T10s will only take 1-2 transfers onto law review. If you want law review (and a clerkship), probably better to stay where you are at.

As you noted, Chicago would be tough if you're heart is set on LR (but possibly still worth it to apply, depends on career goals obviously).

I would stay put unless you can land CCN. The gains of transferring beyond that are those ephemeral feel-good gains, since you've done adequately for Biglaw and you're more likely to land a fed clerkship as a LRer at your current school than as a non-LRer at a new school (it seems like you've got a good grasp on that).

Therefore, I'd say apply HCCN, and maybe Penn (I've heard they put off their LR competition for transfers; correct me if I'm wrong).

This is the case at every school.

Sounds like you are only considering transfer apps to Chicago & Northwestern, and have ruled out Chicago without law review. Contact NU to find out their transfer write-on situation, but I agree with the above poster that you are best advised to remain at your current law school (whether Illinois or Notre Dame) since law review is so important to you & since top 10% plus law review at either Illinois or Notre Dame should get you serious consideration at several Chicago firms.

Can we all pause a moment to laugh at T23?

OP: I just noticed that you are currently at Indiana-Bloomington. That changes my opinion. Top 10% plus law review at Illinois or Notre Dame should be able to get you Chicago biglaw, but I think that the opportunities from IUB are much less. Transfer & participate in the law review write-on competition; if unavailable, still apply & evaluate your options as the situation develops. Good luck !

P.S. Your situation is not silly. You have a great situation with more opportunities coming your way if you act promptly.

Thank you CWolf, much appreciated.

I think law review at UChi is a longshot as a non-ED transfer but still worth a try. Not sure if my grades are good enough to get in anyway. NU might be more realistic and I think they might be slightly more transfer friendly re: law review though that is somewhat just speculation. And I agree with your comments about Illinois/ND vs. IUB and the Chicago market.

Can we also laugh at the OP trying to keep the school a secret when it's given away in their posting history
