What does top 15% at Cooley get you?

I'm asking for a friend. Assume 10th to 15th percentile.

Is this adequate for Tier 1? Top 30? Anyone have any idea?

Once you fall outside top 10% at T4 transfer prospects get really unpredictable. They could get t2 maybe t1. Someone transferred to ASU (t1) last year and they were only top 23% from a T4.

A cup of coffee if you have a dollar.

Doesn't that put him somewhere around #280 or something like that?

That's a lot of transfer apps ahead of him. I'd hit the state schools in the middle of nowhere that the hordes are overlooking.

Edit: Rank guesstimate is assuming he is part time.

Wouldn't it be for free though because he would work as a barista?

I phrased this thread title deliberately to attract good one-liners as well as serious responses.

No chance of him joining me at ND?

Edit: I know we have a couple kids from St. Louis U, which is like T3/T4 (right?). I don't know what their rank is, b/c they seem kind of cool I can't think of a cool way to ask something like that IRL.

Season tickets for right field seats in cooley law school Stadium, home of the Lansing Lugnuts. Top 10% gets 3rd base dugout, top 5% gets box seats. Valedictorian gets a plaque near the concourse adorned with his/her lifetime GPA and career (interview) strikeouts.

That last joke makes me feel terrible but I love baseball and there was no stopping it

According to ND “Admission into Notre Dame Law School as a transfer student is selective and is based upon your prelaw qualifications and academic record at the law school from which transfer is requested.”
There is a chance at ND if they had ok prelaw qualifications, but decided to go to Cooley for a scholarship. In other words if this person doesn’t have decent prelaw qualifications they probably have no chance of getting into ND.

Just notied the 2nd part of this. SLU's a T3 (was lower T2 just 2 years ago) and well-respected in St. Louis. Kind of a far cry from Cooley (as in not a TTT, just a regional T3).

Yeah I kinda assumed that every school that says that (and they all do) is flame. The kid has a flat-2.0 LSAC GPA in a crappy major from our mediocre staTTTe undergrad.

Oh. Yeah I wasn't talking shit, I just don't really follow the rankings after about 50.

Yeah, I figured. I just like to try and keep them distinct from the TTT's in the TLS hive mind when I can.

I was just outside the top 5% at Cooley and I transferred to a Top 25. Your friend should be able to get into at least a tier 2. Transferring is a very fickle process, especially when your coming out of Cooley. Thus, I would advise him to apply to at least 10 schools. Other than the school I attend I was accepted into a top 30 and another tier 1. However, I got dinged at a few tier 2's.

Make sure your buddy researches what schools tend to take in a lot of Cooley transfers and what schools rarely do. Also, where does your buddy want to practice? I might be able to suggest some schools in his region that he would have a decent shot at getting into.

He's looking at Florida, and will be applying to FSU and (I certainly hope) UF as well.

He also has some odd C&F issues...

Living in Lansing for just four days, I have begun to realize how much of a joke Cooley is. Though I may catch a game one of these nights at cooley law school Stadium.

I saw that when I was up there too. Wtf, right?

Given all you hear about them on the blogosphere, I was surprised when I met a couple of them and they seemed normal (i.e., not drooling retards). Even my buddy describes his classmates as potheads and dumb slackers.

I am working in Lansing. My immediate supervisor is a Cooley grad. I find this interesting.

I got into FSU, so did 2 people in my section. I know their rank wasn't as high as mine. Your buddy should have a good chance at getting in there. I got dinged at UF, though. He should probably apply to Stetson as a back up. Also, tell him to shoot out some apps to some mid-level tier 1's that take in a lot of transfers ( W & L comes to mind), you never know.

This cycle, or last years cycle?
