Top Law Schools

I'm top 30% at Cornell and honestly want to get out of here for personal reasons. What are my best options? Any advice on transferring would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Probably not worth it.

Penn, Duke, Michigan are good bets.

So long as your personal reasons are reasonably articulate in an interview setting to an employer, go for it. You won't get a real "boost" but several T14 schools would look favorably on such an ap, especially backed by a good reason for wanting to leave.

1) stop queening-out and wait a week until we our second semester grades

2) everyone (myself included) wants to get out of Ithaca for personal reasons.

if your rank stays the same, though, I have heard (anecdotally) that some 2012'ers who just barely made Dean's List got into Columbia/NYU.

I think more info could be helpful about why exactly you want to transfer. If you mean 'worth it' primarily in terms of job prospects with a firm, then prob not, since top 30% should place you well within striking range of biglaw already. But if for personal reasons you think transferring is the right move, then I think it could be worth it. And, if you do happen to get Columbia, I personally think it would be worth it just to have that on your resume.

Yes. It is legitimately the worst place in the entire world.

Not even close, Ithaca is a nice town. People on this site have something against every place that isn't NYC, DC, Chicago and LA.

What a fucking clown. Just because you didn't like Ithaca for whatever reason don't bring everyone else into your misery. Ithaca is widely considered one of the best college towns in the country and upstate has a ton of things to do, both outdoors and indoors.

As to OP. if you want out, other t14's and schools like fordham, GW, etc.. would be available, but transfering out of t14 seems real risky without a legit reason. Good luck.

Don't transfer, just do NYC biglaw. Also, Cornell's campus is beautiful.

OP - Yeah, I think you could get into some other t-14s if your grades hold constant. Look at the ones that take more transfers. Harvard is probably out unless you have a stellar second semester. I wonder if it is too late to transfer out??? Don't you need to get recommendations? I am not really one to post on the transfer forum generally, so others proabably know much more about it. Also, you may want to wait to make your decision after you find out about Law Review. If you make it, it may give you more incentive to stay.

To answer the other question, Ithaca isn't for everyone. I love the place "for personal reasons." Koala doesn't, which is cool, but MANY of us are really happy here. IMO, it is a great place to spend three years.
