Top Law Schools

This is likely one of those questions best asked directly to admission offices, but figured it was worth a shot here. If you are doing a joint-degree (say, a MPA/JD), are you precluded from transferring after completing your first year of the JD? For those that aren't familiar w/joint-degrees, the JD program is usually shortened to 2.5 years - and thus your post-transfer time at the new school would be 1.5 years (which seems pretty short).

Thoughts? Anecdotes?

Isn't it shortened to 2.5 years because the schools usually count some of the masters classes toward the JD as non-law courses? I would think that because of this 1) if you transfer to another school and do a joint degree there you might be able to stay on the same track or 2) if you drop the second degree and only do JD then you would have to go 2 years to make up for the lost non-law courses that are counted in your previous program.
