my goal is to actually get a job. big law would be nice, but I know nothing is guaranteed.Flustercluck wrote:Depends on what the T2 is and what your goals are. Need more info.
Well, to be fair, the odds of getting a a job that can cover your debt from the T2 versus the odds of getting a job that covers your debt from WUSTL depends entirely on the school. A a T2 like Temple that or IUIndy that does strong in its market is a safer bet, a T2 like Loyola that gets creamed by big dogs in the same city not so much...uzpakalis wrote:my goal is to actually get a job. big law would be nice, but I know nothing is guaranteed.Flustercluck wrote:Depends on what the T2 is and what your goals are. What exactly is a T2 that owns its market?Flustercluck wrote:Depends on what the T2 is and what your goals are. Need more info.
*T2 that owns its market w/$$ > WUSTL Sticker > T2 with heavy competition in its market
Temple (most Penn grads flee to NYC), Pittsburgh, Oregon, etc.uzpakalis wrote:What exactly is a T2 that owns its market?Flustercluck wrote:Depends on what the T2 is and what your goals are. Need more info.

Oh I thought you had a 20K scholarship. 20 total is cheap as hell. I'd stay.uzpakalis wrote:Top 10-12%magicman554 wrote:How are your grades at the mid-T2? Where is it? Where do you want to practice? Usually I'd just say stay in this case, but depending on how you respond a change might make sense.
change of location would be good

don't want to give the name, it's a mid tier 2.CanadianWolf wrote:It might help if you identified your current law school.
You can't get useful advice without that information. If you'd rather PM, go for it, but otherwise you're SOLuzpakalis wrote:don't want to give the name, it's a mid tier 2.CanadianWolf wrote:It might help if you identified your current law school.
I imagine it would cost an extra 75k to attend WUSTL (if I have to pay sticker). Any possibility of merit or need based grants?

A transfer into WUSTL (or any T30) is not going to have a significantly better shot at biglaw than a top 10% student at a T2, especially if the T2 student makes LR. You would be absorbing an additional 75K in debt for roughly similar job prospects (perhaps even worse depending on your T2).uzpakalis wrote:I would like to aim higher, but i'm trying to stay realistic. Without a sound reason, even transferring to some T14s would likely be a mistake. You're going to graduate with only about $60K in debt, which is a lot less than most people attending schools in your range, plus you have rather strong grades so you'll likely do better than most of your classmates in the job hunt.uzpakalis wrote:A lot of what I am hearing sounds like T14 or bust....
