Davis/Hastings top 5% to?

Post by yadayi » Wed Jan 26, 2011 8:27 pm

After first semester grades I wound up inside the top 5% cutoffs from past years. No scholarship at current school. What are my options if I get around the same grades next semester? I imagine HYS is out of the picture unless I move up to 1-2%. Is it worth it to try for CCN (maybe chicago ed?) if I want to get back to CA after graduation or is Berkeley the only transfer that would be worthwhile in this situation?

Berkeley would definitely make the most sense in your situation, especially since they offer need based aid to transfers. Like you said, if you can move up to top 1-2% you have a shot at Stanford. I think you have a great shot at Berkeley if you can maintain those grades, or even if you drop a little bit. CA employers who interview at Berkeley will certainly have a much better idea of what your 1L grades mean than employers would at CCN. In your shoes I would definitely transfer to Berkeley (unless you can get S).
