Wise decision since you will enjoy in-state tuition &, possibly, better job opportunities if you want to stay in Georgia or the Southeast. If you want to practice in the Northeast, then Emory should have better connections.

According to the latest USNews law school rankings :
Emory tuition $41,376 & $24,464 for room, board & expenses = $65,840 per academic year.
Georgia resident tuition $14,448 & $15,320 for room, board & expenses = $29,768 per academic year.

- similar in rank
- waaay cheaper
- equal placement in SE
- Athens is amazing
- more attractive women

You shouldn't have any reluctance to explain the cost factor in addition to your other reasons. Most employers should consider this to be a smart move. I wish you well, but top 50% at your current school may not be enough.
P.S. Have you heard of other contemplating transferring due to cost and/or dismal job placement ?
