UC Hastings to WUSTL/GULC/GW?
Hello all, just looking for some wise TLS advice. I have posted before, but have outed myself to some of my classmates. Hence, in an effort to preserve anonymity, especially concerning grades, I am posting under a different name.
Curious if transferring would even be an option or something I should pursue. Most of my family has since left California for the East Coast. My in-laws, who also used to live in the Bay Area, are now in DC. I wouldn't mind staying at Hastings, but I feel like California is going down in flames. Tuition hikes, poor job market, etc....
I would ideally like to work in government but am also open to other career paths.
1L GPA: 3.67
School hasn't released rankings yet.
Let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance.

you'd have a good chance at UCLA with those grades, maybe a small chance at Boalt.
CA is still a nice place if you are making good money

Thanks for your response Tso. I've appreciated your comments, especially in deciding to attend Hastngs. Are the previous years' GPA percentage cutoffs worth looking at for a ballpark idea of my rank?

I don't blame you for wanting to transfer. Hastings is a great school, but the big firm hiring just is not there. I thought about sending an app to UCLA and Fordham, but my g/f is settled in the Bay Area with her job and I didn't want to uproot all over.

I want to know your class rank (either actual or estimated based on last year's breakdown) before making any suggestions. Hastings is in a sweet spot that could warrant applications to the entire T14, or picking the best regional school in the region you want to live in and applying there, or staying put and continuing to rock it out, depending on where you're at.
Transfer admissions are largely about class rank, school rank and (to a lesser extent) compelling reasons to transfer.

he is at something like top 10% or top 15%. I think that is good enough to apply at UCLA down.patrickd139 wrote:I want to know your class rank (either actual or estimated based on last year's breakdown) before making any suggestions.
