Has anyone transferred down to or visited CUNY? What do they consider in the admissions process?

I attend CUNY. First and foremost, they look for a strong history of public service. I have heard of applicants denied with high numbers but no valuable "softs." CUNY really is a unique law school.

OP: why CUNY? It's so unusual, I figured someone's probably going to ask and I'd rather get the discussion off on a civil foot instead of a snarky one full of ridicule.

I didn't start this thread, but I will share a few positive things about the school from the perspective of a 1L:

1) I have never seen a faculty so dedicated to the students. The curriculum is designed in a way to maximize your education while reducing stress on students. For example, research papers and exams are all scheduled in a way where they do not conflict with each other. I felt that my work load lessened in some classes at the same time as it increased in others.

2) The school has a full time skills department designed to help students with doctrine, test taking techniques, etc. The skills professors are outstanding and offer one on one instruction for no cost.

3) There is a real grass roots vibe at CUNY. Sometimes I feel that there are more organizations than students. The student activites department graciously approves new student organizations.

If you want to do public interest, I can think of no other place to attend. They were recently ranked as the top public interest law school in the country. http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/cypress ... inter/#/24

4) The cost was a real deciding factor for me. You get a New York legal education for a fraction of the cost of other schools in the area.

I saw this earlier and asked the same thing in a FAR less civil way, then I thought better and just bailed.

curious to hear OP's response.

Also, it is literally taking everything I have not to summarily respond to legaldiscretion's post. (pauses while patrickd139 holds megaTTTron back)
