MVP --> Columbia or NYU?

I am a current 0L here who has been accepted to M/V/P and have been following this forum closely.

I am from a poor family and will be paying sticker at MVP next year.
I would like to work in Biglaw and understand that I need top grades at MVP in order to have a good chance
in getting Biglaw.

I see that some people on here make decisions to transfer tougher since they currently have scholarships at MVP or are on law review. These things probably won't be applying to me.

My question is if lets say my GPA after 1L isn't good enough to transfer to HYS but I happen to get into Columbia and NYU.

Would transferring to Columbia/NYU help my chances at Biglaw?

Also, I've heard NYU has a need-based financial aid. Will transferring to NYU allow me to obtain need based grant/scholarship versus just loans at MVP?

Thanks!

Target Market: CA, NYC

If you're doing well enough in your class at Virginia to transfer up, then chances are that you would be better off staying put. I do not know about NYU's need based aid, but if you did well enough so that transferring was an option you could use that with Virginia as a bargaining chip to go after a scholarship.

I think that in this scenario, absent other considerations. what you lose in giving up a year's worth of connections isn't worth what you get back from a marginally "better" school if your grades are good enough to make that possible.

At MVP, if your grades are grades are good enough to transfer, they're good enough for BigLaw.

Also, thread locked; the transfer forum is not for 0L speculation. See also: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 7&t=124519
