Would a transfer from The University of Louisville have a chance of gaining transfer admission at Yale?

Check the transferapps database on Yahoo. If LSN opens its transfer section soon, you can check there.

The fact that the two threads you made today are ridiculously stupid. For your sake, I hope you are a flame. You aren't going to Yale from Louisville, and RE your other thread, where you go very much matters.

Once again, you have failed to prove how a user on this site is a flame. And your opinion of what is ridiculous or not is irrelevant, just like your posts.

I hope you did that on purpose =/

JustBelieve... it's probably a good idea to do as many searches as possible before posting questions like this. At least then you'll have an idea of the general attitude of the response.

Transfering in to Yale is terribly difficult. People in the top 1% of CCN aren't even locks. So, is it likely? Not really. Is it worth sending in an application? Meh, you have less than a 1% chance, but then again, an app is only $80. Your call. Harvard is more (though still not very) likely.

Top 1% at CCN would be a lock.
Top 5% at CCN should still give you a good chance.

That said, most the transfers into Yale seem to be from T14 (Within top 10%, and certainly not guaranteed from within the top 10%) or T50 (Top students).

But this is probably a flame. Oh well.

There is no such thing as a lock at Yale. GTFO. Do you know anyone who has applied to transfer to Yale from the top 1% of CCN?

Haha. I guess lock is a vague word and be construed as an exaggeration.
I'd say... a 95% chance?

Given that the few CCN transfers I know this year were in the top 5-8%, and some of the other transfers I hear about, and also that Yale transfer admissions are much more straightforward, I would say it's safe to give the top 1% at CCN at least a 95% chance of getting into Yale (assuming of course that they actually put in the work of properly filling out the applications and not half-assing the essays or failing to find recommenders, etc.). In other words, if the CCN 1%er really wants to go to Yale, and is willing to put in the application work, they should expect to get in.

Transfer admissions, even at Yale, are less esoteric/random than the standard 0L admissions.

I'm calling in my "I've been through this process before, you're wrong, now stfu" card, at this point. There is no such thing as a 95% chance at Yale, either. Go away. I know a number of people at the top of CCN who tried to transfer to Yale. Some made it, some didn't. You have no fucking idea what you're talking about.

That said, to stop derailing the thread--OP, I wouldn't count on it.

Hm. The problem with that card, is that I also can play it and my card is accompanied by the "I just went through the transfer cycle and spent way too much time looking up information on this with a passion" card. I know the CCN and T14 transfer information out there relatively well, and doubt that you have an "inside" perspective on the Yale transfer process that provides you with superior information.

You said you know a number of students at the top of CCN, but top 1% is ~12 students (assuming a combined class size of 1200) and top 2% ~24. I know most students at that point don't apply to transfer. I seriously doubt you know multiple students from CCN in the top 1% that made a good faith effort to get into Yale, and were rejected. Very seriously doubt this. So, can you clarify what you mean by the "top of CCN"? Anything outside the top 2% would be irrelevant to a discussion about the top 1%.

Anyhow, the STFU and GTFO was a little much, no? Either way, if you would like to continue this discussion, and prefer to stop derailing this thread feel free to continue this discussion in PM =].

But I do agree with you about the OP not counting on it. (Although, as said earlier, part of me feels inclined to attribute "flame" to OP. Could be wrong ont hat one though)

Edit: I read back through this and realized I wrote "I mean" about fifteen times in this thread. Haha. Fixed.

I know 6 people (between two years) who were top 1-2% who tried to transfer to Yale (as far as they could tell based on GPA, anyway) from CCN. 3 made it, 3 didn't. Don't presume that I don't have fairly in-depth knowledge on this.

Anyway, the discussion is irrelevant, because it affects very few people--but the idea that Yale is ever a sure thing is absurd. hth.

The "lowest" ranked school I think I've heard of where Yale granted transfer admission to someone was in the lower T1 or so. I'm not totally sure beyond that, but I'm sure it's plausible. Of course, I'm rarely the one to completely rule out possibilities around here.
