Top Law Schools

Alright, I've decided to post here for your advice. I was accepted to NYU and need to decide relatively quickly over whether to stay at GW or go to NYU. I am top 20% now at GW and wrote on to the International Law Review, which has great prestige. I also have made connections with lots of professors and students in my 1L year. I do, however, want to work in NY after graduation and attended NYU for undergrad, so I'm quite comfortable with the area. What do you all think?

I think the transfer makes a lot of sense. You are not at the top of the class at GW.

Transfer. You don't have the top grades or LR (International Law Review is still just a secondary journal) that would make it worth staying, and you want to work in NY. Go.

When's your deadline for nyu?

There is really no question whatsoever if you want to work in NYC.

You should definitely transfer. It makes the most sense for your career. Leaving your friends sucks but so does not maximizing your earning potential.

You'll only be like 3 hours away from them anyway =)

Hey, I'm a (former) GW student as well, who decided to transfer to Columbia. I also want to live/work in NY. Unlike you though, I was top 10% and on LR. With that still in mind, I found that transferring would be a better idea given career/market aspirations.

In your case, there shouldn't really be any debate in your mind. Yes it may be annoying to have to "pack up" and move, and yes you'll lose your friends. However, especially considering your current situation at GW, a transfer to NYU would be monumentally better. Do it and congratulations.

Dude! NYU! That's awesome. If you went there UG I assume you'll have some connections. Plus NYU has a transfer write on you can compete in.

What the hell is with the transfer admissions this cycle? And how is this even a question in your mind?

Top 20% from GW to NYU? Damn... makes me think I should have thrown an app or two out.
