SLS or T2 with full scholly and awards

Just got the nod from SLS. I go a tier 2 in the 70s. I think that it will lose ground in the coming years.
Is it worth taking on the insane debt and giving up the scholly, law review, moot court, and all of that other shit? I could have any job I want in my current market.
Please put a disclaimer up if you have a dog in the fight (ie you have an app in to Stanford)
Also, how many transfers does SLS take.

Im slightly biased. I did my undergrad at the farm.
That being said, this is not debateable. It would be criminal to give up SLS for a scholarship at a middling T2. There are tangible and intangible benefits to attending SLS which manifest themselves over the course of a career. Take the offer and don't look back.

I would take SLS personally but full scholly and the benefits of being highly ranked are hard to give up. If you are dead-set on working in your current market staying might make sense. If you are looking towards academia or want the more national degree go with Stanford.

SLS, hands down. and if you think Palo Alto is expensive, research COL in Manhattan to soothe a bit of the sting.

tbf, you can make Stanford fairly financially accessible. Just bunk it in EV for a few years and eat tacos along El Camino.

Usually people create these polls to affirm their own desires. You know what you want us to say.
If you wanted to stay at your current school, you probably wouldn't have applied to Stanford.

There's something to be said for having options and weighing them down the line.

That's actually the funniest putdown I've read regarding this roll situation. I did get an A on the roll exam though, but that was kind of after I'd written the whole thing. Ergo, rolls are more an augur (yes, augur) of success than a means of it. Anyway, congrats on OP's admission.

Agreed: Stanford. You'll likely still be successful enough there (that's why they accepted you!) that your connections to your current market will not be completely lost. You'll then gain more national options for your first job, and doors will be open for you down the line that otherwise might not have been. Debt is hard, but debt with a Stanford degree sounds pretty manageable to me.
Enjoy Palo Alto!

Stanford is the better choice. Rather than "paying full sticker" think of it as investing $100,000 to receive a multi-million dollar degree in two years.

Thanks for all of the input everyone. I am so glad that I got into SLS, I was accepted there in undergrad but turned it down.
That has always been my dream school, the area is sweet. So yes, I really am leaning towards SLS. I just like to hear feedback from everyone on this site. This site was invaluable to my success in first year and my transfer success.
As a really poor kid growing up, I always have been leery of taking on debt. Right now I know that I could get any job in the legal market that my school is located in. Cost of living is dirt cheap in the current town that I am in as well. I could buy a pretty sick house cheap.
**Would interest in DOJ and other governmental jobs sway your decisions at all? I guess that I am going to be forced to go private sector to pay for the loans but I guess that is the price of going to such an amazing school**

Why would you need private loans? You should be eligible for federal loans for the full cost of tuition + COL at your school.
Also, if you want federal government work, the difference between SLS and non-T1 schools is enormous. Absolutely enormous, no kidding, go to SLS, case closed, that much difference.

OP, I vote Stanford. Take federal loans, including gradplus, and then use IBR to pay off debt. If you have a government or non-profit job, payment is only about 10% of income for 10 years, then all federal loans are forgiven. Going to Stanford would give you a great shot at DOJ, and with IBR, the debt isn't that hard to pay off (as long as you do a gov/non-profit job for a decade).
