Anyone else attempting the impossible? If so: stats, hopes, dreams, fears..idk...the waiting is just killing me

I think of my T1 as a T2... but seriously, you face very long odds even if you're first in your class. Harvard will take a couple, Yale will almost certainly take none and Stanford might take 1 but probably won't. Getting into Harvard, I imagine, will require some epic softs.

noted, I'm hoping from Harvard at least that since I want to do public interest law (rather than academia or biglaw) i'll stand out a bit and then hope on my urm status and nice softs to pull me through on the margins...never gonna happen but you never know someone in admissions could have just gotten engaged when they look at my app or something

I think that URM status would tend to help a lot - but perhaps more in the sense that making it in as a t2 would be a lot closer to impossible without it. You have to think they see a lot of applicants from, for example, the top of Howard's class.

Opinion on those boards is mixed over the effects URM has on transfer apps. But I tend to think it has little effect, since the relatively small number of transfer admits will not change the schools diversity numbers that much. I guess there are other reasons they might care beyond the numbers, but I doubt it.

Maybe they won't get into HYS but it's pretty ridic to say they can't get into tier 1, hell even T14.

Um, while his comment is stupid, he didn't say they can't get into tier 1.

Hmm...I'm surprised. I guess that gives hope to the people trying to do so.

I mean, on Yale's own site they list schools that people have gotten in from and the lowest name on that list is Tulane. But I'm sure it's happened.

You know, I don't see that on their site anywhere anymore. But I definitely read it there once. Unless I'm thinking Harvard?

He implied as much by saying that they'd always be tier 2. Anyway. Pretty sure he's a troll so I don't care to dissect his comment.
Good luck, everyone.

I think it is fair to say that transfer apps are much less numbers-based than normal admission (for obvious reasons).
In any event, good luck to OP!
