Hey guys, I just made LR at 40-60 ranked school. Should i transfer to GW or Washu. I am T10-13%.
What do you guys think? should I stay or go?
I dont like the market that my school is currently in.
Scholarship money is a very very small factor. I am extremely lucky and my parents are paying. They told me to go to the best school possible and ignore scholarship money.
What do you think I should do?

What are you asking? Your post says you just made Law Review at GW or WUSTL, but your poll says you might transfer to one of those schools.

K that's what I thought it was supposed to say but wasn't sure. I actually think I know where you go bc of other posts. Anyway, I REALLY think this question comes down to where you want to practice. Do you want to practice in the city where your school is located (assuming it's top dog in that city). If so, then you definitely should stay. But if you want to practice somewhere else then you should transfer accordingly (mid-west then go to WUSTL, DC/Mid Atlantic then go to GWU). I mean if you aren't paying I could see your parents argument for just going to the best school possible. However, I know from first hand experience that top 10% + LR from a regional school in its market (Maybe like top 10% Pitt grad in Pittsburgh) > anything less than 15% at the two schools you mentioned (when applying for Pittsburgh firms). I think the same would hold true for other secondary markets.

I think the above is probably pretty good advice. Additionally, if you're really unsure about what you'll want to do and where you'll want to do it, go to GW or WashU as, in the long run, I would expect those names would give you a few more options.

ehh, I was just talking to a DC attorney the other day about the economy and hiring in DC. Basically his main point was: yeah it's bad, but don't let that determine your future goals. He explained to me that things were not so great when he graduated in the mid 90's (of course not as bad as they are now). He just said you have to work hard, get out and network, and things just align. It's one of those things thats kind of hard to grasp as a 20-25 yr-old person but according to him things kind of just fall into place, so long as you put yourself in a position to succeed. Idk, I know a ton of ppl are going to bash what he said, and I'm reiterating, but OP I think you're in a good position either way. I mean just having no debt is huge. If you want Chicago, shoot for Chicago. Start doing legwork now. If you think going to WUSTL will help you place into that market then go to WUSTL. I still would be conctacting every atty. in Chicago that I knew from a friend/family etc. though. Maybe you'll go this route and fail, but honestly don't you think if you settle for less, even if you become successful years from now you'll still wonder "what if?". Thats just my opinion though so take it FWIW.
