Uh, pretty poor, I would say. Top 5 at that rank and you'd have a shot, though even then you could easily be rejected. I think where you are you're looking at Georgetown and down. Certainly you'd have a great chance at getting into a GW or something in that range.

If you're a VA resident, you have a tiny chance.

If you're not, I'd say 0% odds.

Sorry, bud.

Rejected today at UVA. :x

I'm not a VA resident, though, so 0% odds makes me feel a tad better. But then it upsets me deeply, having spent a fair deal time and energy and application fee on a school where the odds weren't even 1%? Give me a tenth of a percent. Thats all I ask for, a freaking tenth of a percent, so I know someone from out of state got in.

Well, your odds may have been better than 0%, I was just replying to OP. However, transferring into UVA is known to be tough if you're not a VA resident.

Thanks, vanwinkle. Even if the odds were 0%, though, I'm not actually upset. I didn't actually spend a "fair deal of time and energy," although I did spend the application fee--Cuz I jus don't care about UVA. You know what, actually, FUVA, F-it

Okay, I'm upset.

FWIW, VA resident, top 3-5% and LR attending an out of state T2 and dinged. PS tailored towards the school. E-mail said they're taking 12 students this year.

stumbled upon this thread randomly..

Does going to another law school in VA for a year make one a state resident for the purposes of transferring?

Rejected by e-mail following a failed attempt at in-state status. t30 top 10-15%.

Haven't looked into it, but I'm almost 100% sure the answer is likely no.

fwiw, i was admitted on july 1 and have already withdrawn. i had a lot of long talks with the VA residency office regarding my in-state status and was only admitted after VA residency was approved. I think they took a tiny class, and I got the impression that it was all instate. So for those of you who aren't VA residents, I don't think you should stress

i go to pretty much the #1 feeder school for T2 transfers to VA and I didn't even apply as an out-of-state resident... checked the #s from past years and just felt like I had no chance

UVA apparently had only 12 seats available. My semi-educated guess is that they all went to VA residents.

In other words, your chances are pretty much nil.

I hope you tried Michigan too.

Dinged, even though I'm a VA resident attending a non-VA school and received encouraging emails from the adcoms.

I was made aware this afternoon of 1 student at my school (VA school) whom is a NON VA resident and was admitted to UVA. She's like just inside the top 10% or so.

Wow. That is cold. This is why the VA legislature is pissed at them. If I had facts to back this up, I would certainly write letters to the governor, my VA House delegate, etc...
