P.S. A'nold, you WILL get in somewhere, and despite the heated discussion above, I am pulling for you.
Man, this thread had so much potential...
It still has the same potential as before...but honestly, I'm not sure how much potential there is to begin when it comes to an "In At Nowhere" thread. I think the title alone brings out the grumpiness in all of us.

You know what, I actually hope the potential of this thread is sharply limited. At the very least, I hope all of us here--including A'nold--will soon gravitate towards an "In At Somewhere" thread, with this thread long behind us, and then all will be well in the world.

But for you to grind A'nold for complaining or fretting and to argue semantics in the way that you have is nothing short of hypocrisy. I've read your posts in a transfer thread where you "fretted" (as much as A'nold did ITT) about your chronic illness during UG. You posted something to the effect: "If not for my chronic illness, I'd already be at a T14. Because students as talented as myself wind up at T40 schools, an application from a student at the top of the class at a T40 should be taken just as seriously as one from a T20 on down." Nobody called you out on your logic or dubbed you a complainer probably because most were sympathetic to the effects your illness had on your education. But the assumptions you made in reaching your conclusions were no greater than the ones A'nold offered in support of his "screwy" grading situation, and the justifications he provided for his frustrating transfer cycle were no less quantifiable than the justifications you gave for your disappointing application cycle. So maybe tone down the douchiness is TCR? If you want to continue being a douche, at least make sure that you're coming to the table with clean hands
.

First, I do think context is important. I didn't go into elaborate detail about my illness. I made my point in the context of that thread--yes, vented my frustration--and moved on. It's one thing to cherry-pick one of my posts; and another to observe an entire pattern of behavior that pervades this thread and others. Of course I have 'fretted' about that, but I'm not exactly a 'fretter' or instigator.

And second, even considering my previous post, chronic illness isn't quite analogous to a 'screwy' grading situation, as unfortunate as the latter really is. Frankly, screwy grading situations are not only more common, but they are also more prone to ambiguity. If A'nolds professors operated on differential curves, which they pre-determined without regard to the relative perceived strength of the class (do we know this?), then his situation is screwy indeed. Either way, I sympathize with that situation. Others here have expressed sympathy as well for A'nold, for this and many other issues he has expressed. But at some point, you do accept the cards you were dealt--and unless the school takes action after your complaint, which here it has not--you have to move on.

I accept my cards, but my issue has been how to present it to Admissions. In A'nolds case, if he were to notify them about 'stacked' sections and differential curves (and I would say avoid it), then he would need to artfully and succinctly mention the school's policy of allowing each professor to curve classes to his/her own liking--NOT, "and therefore, my grades suffered compared to the other applicants you get." But in my case, it's something they need to know, no two ways about it. Either way, I haven't really been dwelling on it, and I haven't really gone the extra
mile to draw new sympathizers.

I do appreciate your reasoned response (as opposed to the previous STFU), but I take issue with your drudging up my own (isolated) concern to draw a moral/practical equivalence with A'nolds overall conduct here.
In the context of your posts I couldn't tell that you were criticizing A'nold on a level that exceeded his conduct ITT. And to be fair, I didn't dredge up your posting history. As a person who battled serious illness for much of 1L, your post and username stuck in my mind. In the context of your criticism ITT, any concerns about your illness and its potential effects on transferring is certainly analogous to A'nolds situation. If you were clear that your issue with A'nold included his general conduct outside of this thread, an "unclean hands" argument wouldn't be warranted. Good luck in your transfer cycle.

In other news...i was reviewing transfer apps data and saw that the following schools often render decisions between 7/8 and 7/20:

M
NU
Chicago
Y
H
S
Vandy
Penn
Hastings
Emory

Penn acceptances often come through during the earlier part of the referenced date range. M, NU, and Chicago acceptances often come through between 7/10 and 7/16.

So, there is still a great deal of hope! I'm glad I looked through the data for decision-rendered dates. I feel a lot better now.

I have to wonder though why I've only heard from 1 out of 13 schools that I applied to. You'd think I'd have at least heard from 4 or something, haha.

I guess there's a direct correlation between the strength of your stats relative to other applicants to a given school and the speed with which you receive an acceptance from said school. I am borderline or worse for each of the schools I applied to, so I'm not surprised to still be waiting for my first decision. What really killed me is that lawschool got in to M with t7% at a T50, and he and I went complete at about the same time. This DOES NOT bode well for me considering our stats are about equal (i guess he might have a slight edge). I'm sure the locations of our current schools played no small role.

Anyway, A'nold, I think you're borderline at a lot of the schools you applied to, so it's difficult to expect quick turn arounds. Almost all the acceptances we have seen reported in this forum have been from applicants with amazing numbers, e.g. t1% @ T3, t5% @ T40, t10% @ T25, etc.

No reason to get down about it. With the collective will of TLS pulling for you, I can't imagine you'll be unhappy with the result. That said, try to relax. I don't think this week will be too eventful, given the research I did earlier today. Next week will be better, and within 3 weeks we'll probably have a very good idea of where we'll be spending 2011 and 2012.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Borderline #'s = a later notification.

See, the sucky thing about "burrying yourself in work" is that I CANNOT stop thinking about transfer apps 24/7 and I have access to the internet. My work is cool too but I'm not enjoying it as much as I should be. I hate that this matters so much to me, dangit.

Dude, you're aggravating your fragile self esteem by wasting your life on this website, go on a TLS diet, you're addicted.

because you're not in the top 10% at a t3, I'm not sure what other explanation you're looking for

Ever consider that the majority of people that talk shit have <50 points, usually without exception, convicted?

I'm officially complete at half, unofficially complete at a few and radio silent by one. I'll send good thoughts at Michigan if you send good ones at Penn. Transferapps says this was the week last year.

What grinds my gears:

Frustrated with silence and unhelpful status checkers, I called NYU yesterday only to find out they were missing no fewer than THREE parts of my app: my undergrad transcript, my law school transcript, and my law school dean's certification (all of which I *think* I submitted 3 weeks ago. What's the point of a status checker if it doesn't provide any information at all?

Also, are you just searching messages in transferapps, or is there a file or resource I am missing there?
I just searched the 'Database 2009' for the school name and some people put the date they heard back. It looks like a giant excel spreadsheet.

Also, Deseo, I empathize. I had to resend a number of things this week.
