I'm currently going to school in the PNW, and it does seem completely opposite of what you are experiencing at your current school. I think that you would love it here.
However, the job market here is very tough to crack. They almost require that you have connections to the region, either through going to school here or having grown-up here. I have a friend who just graduated from a T40 school, good grades, and employers have straight-out told her that they prefer UO and Lewis Clark grads over her school, even though her husband is from the PNW. So, if the PNW is your dream, I think that transferring might be a good idea.
If you want an urban city close to you, I would apply to Univ. Wash. or Lewis and Clark. Portland is about 2 hours from Eugene. But, Eugene does have a Saturday market with naked hippies - very individualistic. And, did you apply to Berkeley? I believe that Berkeley might give you a good shot at the PNW, but who knows if you don't have any other ties.
Good luck! PM me if you have any specific questions.

Both schools are somewhat of a long shot given the terrible LSAC stats I have.
For transferring your "terrible LSAC stats" don't really matter that much. If you are in at a top 50 school and you are top 5%-10% you have a really good shot at transferring. Its possibly too late to apply at Boalt, but I wouldn't consider UCLA a "reach"...

Get your transfer apps in NOW. You need to transfer out. Apply to every school in the PNW, explain in your PS the need to move to a region you're more comfortable in, and pray.
The PNW, as mentioned, is very selective. They want people who actually went to school up there and/or are from there. Focus on UW and Berkeley (you have a small but realistic shot at Berkeley) but put apps in at L&C, OU, UCLA, anywhere. UCLA might limit you to CA, but you'll probably still be happier there from the sound of it. You will not be happy staying where you are, you are making that abundantly clear, so get out now while you still can.

In your personal statement, try not to be so condenscending with regards to the "horror that is southern conservative America." If your personal statement reflected the attitude of your post here, I would turn you down without a second thought, no matter your class rank.

I would transfer up if I were you, but not down or lateral. Your grades are good enough to transfer up. You are unhappy in southern Christian conservative America, and that is understandable (I hate it too). But you will also be unhappy unemployed, and I'm not sure that employers will look at a transfer from a similarly ranked school who was born and raised thousands of miles away as a good hire. Someone feel free to correct me, though.

The dude is just looking for advice, and there wasn't a single part of his post that was offensive, stupid, condescending, etc.

No, but what is horrific to the OP is pretty objective to the OP. The fact that you took it as "condescending" (when he was expressing it just to TLS to explain his need to get away, and not in any official capacity like on a transfer application) is your problem.

My problem is that your "advice" sucks and is unnecessary, and only makes you look like a judgmental asshat rather than anything approaching a helpful user. Actually, I guess that's your problem.

First of all: Bama is a great school, but I understand your point of view.
Second of all: The school you attend will have a very hard time placing in the Pacific Northwest. If that is where you want to live, then you need to transfer and even do a lateral, if that is what it takes.

He is giving us his reasons for wanting to transfer. I'm sure OP isn't going to say, "I hate white middle class conservative Christian people!!!!" when he applies to transfer. Just like I'm not going to send an LOLWUT meme to law firms when I send my cover letters in. It is called having tact, my friend.
And please, do enlighten us on what he said that was even remotely offensive.

You're doing a very good job of proving that.
It's obvious the culture he's referring to is "horrific" to him. That's not condescending at all. It's him sharing why he wants to transfer. It makes sense for him to include such a visceral reaction in his description of why he wants to leave; that way we know what advice to give him. How strongly he feels about remaining where he is plays a kind of huge role in what kind of advice we should give him. Unlike you, I'm capable of understanding that he's expressing how he feels in order to get the best advice, and not calling himself better than you. He even clarifies that he doesn't mean to be derogatory, he's just expressing his own feelings on the matter. I'm also assuming OP is intelligent enough to not write the same way toward adcomms that he does toward TLS. 98% of TLS users probably understand this incredibly simple concept. What I find boggling is that you do not.

I'm going to put my mod hat on now. Enough has been said on both sides that anyone reading can tell who thinks what and why. Let's stop debating what we each personally find "offensive" and "derogatory" and start focusing on giving OP useful info on his transfer prospects to PNW schools like he asked for.
To OP, I apologize for participating in a derailing of your thread.

I go to school at L&C. I like the school a lot. However, the PNW is not a haven for individual autonomy. Just like a conservative area has people who don't look kindly on those who are different, the progressives in the PNW don't like people with more "traditional" values. Since you might not have those values (this is not meant as a put down) you might like it here. However, let's not pretend that liberal areas allow for any more net autonomy than conservative areas. Some places have reactionary intolerant people and others have reactionary tolerant people. If you are a reactionary tolerant person then PNW might be for you. All of that being said, the actual school has generally open-minded people who you'd probably feel comfortable around.
