Please help -- T2 to UCLA, Columbia, NYU?

I'm currently at a school ranked in the 50's. I have a 3.666 GPA, and that might be anywhere from 8-10%. I'm interning at USAO in a major city this summer. Any shot at UCLA, NYU, or Columbia? Those are the only schools I'm really serious about attending, and the only schools I feel I could write a genuine PS for. I know that everyone might say it's worth applying, but I would like to think more realistically, before I shell out about $250+ for application fees. Thanks!!

You should have a really good shot at UCLA. I was just outside the top 10% at a T2 in the 60s and got into UCLA. I think you are in really good shape for UCLA, especially if you can write a good PS about why you want to transfer to UCLA, if you have ties to the city, etc.
I would imagine that NYU and Columbia will be a little bit more of a long shot. They both tend to have pretty big transfer classes, but being just outside the top 5% might prevent you from getting in. It's definitely not too far outside the realm of possibility though, so I would still recommend throwing in an app.
Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions about UCLA, etc.
