I finished top 3% at T4 and would like to transfer to UF or FSU...is UF out of reach?

I dunno...maybe I just convinced myself its more difficult to transfer to UF than it really is...a couple of years a go they took no transfers so I'm expecting the worst.

if UFend up accepting an transfers at all you'll probably be high on their list of who to accept. last year they accepted some students in the top 2%, 10%, 11%, and 25% from tier 3/tier 4 schools. for fsu: top 2%, 4%, 8%, 10%, 11%, 15%, , 21% from tier 3/tier 4 schools.

it looks like as long as you're top 10% you have a solid chance.

Is Emory or Vandy out of question?

Add more schools to your list. Don't be afraid to aim high and throw a few longshot apps out there. Take a look at the transferapps database on yahoogroups for ideas where to apply.

Congrats on your 1L performance. I would cast the transfer app net very broadly. You're certain to have good options.

FSU usually accepts transfers in the top 33% of their class and above. You have a good chance.

You should be good for UF. UF was very selective for transfers in the past, but starting this past year, it reduced its 1L class to 300 from 400. Not surprisingly, it bumped up the number of transfer students. I can only speculate, but I would assume they would continue to accept a decent amount of transfers in light of the smaller 1L class.

Certainly those are good targets, but like others have said you might as well try for Emory/Vandy/Duke/etc. too unless you absolutely need to stay in FL.

yea...i have a wife, son, and own a business (though i haven't stepped a foot in it since November)...so I really need to stay in Florida...I live about 50 minutes from UF (been driving to and from Miami every week)...Tallahassee would be a drive, but half of what I've been driving

Ok...UF and FSU apps are in!...ended up top 2%....so its out of my hands...good luck to eveyone else!
