Sending materials out of order

Post by samiseaborn » Mon May 17, 2010 2:22 pm

So I won't know until mid June if the grades actually turned out well enough to transfer. But I wanted to get as much organized as possible in the meantime since my letters of rec around going to really be pushing the deadlines as a result of mid-June grade release. Can I start having things like letters of good standing forwarded to the potential schools even though I haven't completed their apps yet? It's one of the few things I can do right now that a) doesn't depend on grades b) doesn't cost me anything.

Also, really stupid question... a legal writing prof counts as a 'law prof' for recommendations, right?

i dont know the answer to your main question. but i can answer the "stupid" one. haha, you can definitely get a letter from a LRW or LARAW professor, it might even look really good if it is from a legal writing professor.

Thanks for the response. I guess I was reading too much into the instructions stating "law professor".

Also, if it helps anyone with the first question, I was talking about the CLS/NYU apps that require all those extra Dean's Certs. I'm going to try and call admissions next week if no one else figured it out yet.

I would have most of the materials, in whatever quantity to meet your potential transfer needs, sent directly to you. I tried to consolidate as much of the paperwork as possible into one package that I sent to each school. Some schools will require some components of the application package to come directly from the source, but for most of the schools I was able to gather all but the law school certification ahead of time. It was much easier for me to ensure that all my LORs, UG certifications, etc. were sent in if I was the one collecting the signed/sealed envelopes and enclosing them with my application.
