Hey Guys - quickie for you here.
3.67 at Hofstra (They don't rank after first semester but ~5-8%). I'm debating a transfer (on 35k/year scholarship), Looking at t14, realistically after this semester I hope to have ~3.73-3.78. My top choices would be

1)Columbia
2)NYU
3)Chi
4)UPenn
5)Cornell
6)Northwestern
7)WashU

I want to practice in NY, which ones of these would be a realistic chance and/or worth it?

Thanks,
FD

If you are in the top 8% I'd say your only realistic shot would be WUSTL but if you manage to get within the top 5% I'd say you have some shot at Penn on down. You would likely need to be in the top 2% or so to have a shot at NYU or Columbia and I doubt Chicago would accept you if you ended up first in your class as they seem to have a bias against non-t1 transfers.

Apply to all of them...any school. Throw some mud against the wall and see what sticks. Top-8% is generally good enough to go anywhere, but it will depend on how the schools feel about Hofstra and how many transfer apps they get. At Hofstra that's the top 32 out of 400 students, right? That's kickin' 368 asses! The considerations will be your essays, LOR's and your pre-law profile (despite what schools say, they do look at it for weaknesses).
