I am not a rankings whore by any means, but I kind of agree with the sentiment that if you don't get into a "national" (probably top 20 school) stay where you are, UNLESS there's a good T1 or T2 school in a market that you KNOW you wanna work in.

A good job might be tough to get coming out of Widener...but not if you're #1. You'll probably do fine if you stay where you are. But...you won't have the diploma from a good school.

You'll also do fine if you go to a top 20 school, AND will have a sexy diploma. I would apply for transfer to a bunch. Don't be afraid of the lower T14, and sure, try Columbia...the worst they can say is no....
Congrats again!!!!

This is kind of what I'm doing. I am going to apply to UW-Seattle because it is in the city I want to work and it "owns the NW." It is a t30 that I feel comforable giving up great grades and LR at my current school for.......probably.

I didn't read all the replies with the stream of Ts, but there's some guy on here who had a 4.0 at a t4 and the best place he got into was a t20 (wustl, I think).

It just doesn't seem like it'd be worth it to transfer from any t4 (unless of course we're talking about Cooley, Appalachian, Florida Coastal, etc.) to WUSTL unless you knew you wanted St. Louis above all else or something.

Excuse my french, but what the hell is wrong with Villanova? I understand Cardozo not being advisable because of the sheer amount of NYC based schools, but Philly isn't nearly as saturated as NYC.

Am I missing something (0L currently deciding on a school, and Nova is in my top 3).

What does this have to do with anything?

Read the thread. We're not talking about Nova in general.

I'll take my question to PM's, not going to derail. Continue on, nothing to see here.

To me, if I were able to keep up with my ranking, it would really make no sense to transfer to a school like villanova or temple etc, especially if I were to miss OCI. Being number 1 here should easily land me in a big firm in DE. I think the only way I will transfer is if I get into a top 20 school and that is only because of what I can do with that degree, and also if the location is somewhere like California which would be phenomenal!

I would suggest you apply to Penn and GULC as transfer reaches, at a minimum. Aim as high as you want if you want to go higher, too. Seriously. Aim high if you're gonna transfer. You should look for realistic options, but the extra $75 or so could end up giving you the best surprise of your life.
