Big thumbs down to UES. Private message OperaSoprano, she might be looking for a roomie. I found something reasonable in the 70's btwn columbus ave/central park. Depends on your finances/ how many people you're willing to live with. Usually, more roomies-----> cheaper rent.ari12345 wrote:Hey all, just wanted to know what everyone's housing plans were---is everyone living near fordham, or spread out over the city?? also, any girls out there that need a roommate? ive been planning on living with a friend from undergrad thats working in the city but shes making it more and more difficult as she only wants to live on the UES....

I'll be living on the LES - while not ideal for commuting purposes, I just love it here. For those that are entertaining the idea of not living on the UWS, the subway stop at Columbus Circle has so many different options that commuting to school shouldn't be a huge problem from most places in the city/Brooklyn/Queens.
I also second the big thumbs down for the UES. I've been working in the neighborhood for three years and to me, it feels like the least neighborhood-y of all the neighborhoods in the city. Wouldn't be a half bad commute on the crosstown bus though.
For those that have an interest in Williamsburg - my old roommate is looking to fill 2 rooms. Let me know if it strikes anyones fancy. /shameless plug

Just wondering, where is everyone at with regards to applying for stafford/grad plus loans? I've signed both promissory notes, taken the entrance quiz, and applied for stafford. I'm just curious because I haven't heard a single thing back from them

+1. In the same spot. I was told by someone in the financial aid office that we should hear something later in June, so I think you're still OK.nygiants wrote:Just wondering, where is everyone at with regards to applying for stafford/grad plus loans? Re: Fordham Class of 2013/2014
hey guys, I went into financial aid to check on my file and I was told that it was unlikely that they would be mailing out loan packages but rather we just need to go through the steps previously stated and then check on the loan status on our online fordham account on the fordham website. The form referenced here a few pages back to be downloaded from the fordham website functions as us signing on for the loan and no other paperwork needs to be signed. Correct me if I am wrong but that is the assumption I am now under.rockthelaw wrote:+1. In the same spot. Re: Fordham Class of 2013/2014
In case anyone was wondering, I just called the Financial Aid office and discovered that they were finally sending me my Fordham ID number. Maybe others have gotten them earlier, but I had them email me the letter with that information on it before they put it in the mail...
Also, it was nice to finally get my Stafford loan app in.

Maybe I'm completely missing something, but the only entrance interview I'm able to access on my studentloans.gov account is for the PLUS loan, does someone know how to access the link for the Stafford loans?
Also, has anyone gotten a confirmation email/updated status checker about their enrollment forms?

I filed my forms awhile ago, planning on calling this week to make sure they got them. As I've been told (and done) there is only one entrance exam for both the PLUS and Stafford loans, you just have to file a separate MPN and school form for each type with the specific amounts. Double check with the finaid office (I've found a guy who works there named Eric to be the most helpful) and they can walk you through it.Springsteen wrote:Maybe I'm completely missing something, but the only entrance interview I'm able to access on my studentloans.gov account is for the PLUS loan, does someone know how to access the link for the Stafford loans?

You can actually log into your my.fordham.edu account without a school ID#. That lists all of the paperwork they have received (with regards to Fin Aid - it doesn't show your registration forms). It also shows which loans/what kind of aid you're set to receive.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
