I filled out everything listed on this site: http://www.law.columbia.edu/current_stu ... /Loan_Apps

For some reason I remember someone saying that law students were not eligible for Perkins loans, but I may be way off base on that one. Sorry I couldn't actually help you out. :D

Just checked, my applications are still showing in the history section. Probably just a technical glitch, as I don't think the FinAid department is having fun with the eLoans update. :)

Yes, please don't take my word on the Perkins loans, I am going off something I thought I heard. In fact, I probably should not have even posted about it, as I have no real basis for my comment. :?

Does anyone know if the award letter we received can be located anywhere online?

Anyway, I called them just now and they told me they'd be sending information about the Perkins loan in an e-mail. Apparently, it's going to be done through the CLS website, but the link to do so isn't available yet.

Did they mention if we were going to eventually have to fill out the Plus application on StudentLoans.gov? Every time I try for Columbia, it says the school is not accepting that application year.

No, but I'm pretty sure filling out the Plus application on StudentLoans.gov isn't necessary. The financial aid e-mail just tells us to a) fill out the Loan Request form on Columbia's website and b) sign the MPN on StudentLoans.gov.

does anyone know if the Dean's Certification is a form that is found on the Columbia website, or if we are just supposed to ask our schools to tell Columbia we graduated in good standing? I got an extension to turn this one in because I was abroad and my trip was extended, but I just returned and realized I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. Thanks!

If I remember correctly, you can also find this form in the blue binder that we received in the mail.

Sooooo very excited.

Submitted my ID photo, about to schedule an appointment to get my doctor to sign off on the immunization form, need to talk to my job about extending my insurance until August 31. Ooh, I should take care of that CUIT computer exam now.

I wish they'd bill us already and figure out the loans thing so I could stop worrying. I saved up enough to take out only very minimal loans for the next three years as long as I live off of free student lunch meetings and ramen noodles for dinner - but the money is burning a hole in my pocket, and I'm worried I'll spend it on something silly and fun before tuition is due.

Yeah, I want to know about FinAid stuff too. Hopefully it will come soon. I have to get my old immunization records from my mom, to prove that I had those shots. Fun times. AdmitNet said my photo was accepted. Just waiting now. My current job took away all my responsibilities, for the most part, so it is kind of like watching a clock!

I have been attending events for alum and current students in DC, which have been fun. Met some more 0Ls and some current students, as well as some awesome alumni. The network at Columbia is redic, I was talking to the CLS alum clerking for Ginsberg at the last event and then turned around and chatted briefly with a Congressman who is an alum. Fun stuff!

I had a friend at work take the picture using my BlackBerry. And yes, I felt silly.

I did take pictures of myself just for Columbia. Only because two of the walls in my bedroom are cream-colored. So, I easily got it done this weekend.

It needs to be a passport-style headshot, with a white or off-white background, you facing the camera at eye level, no hats or sunglasses, and your shoulders need to be in the shot.

That's easy enough. Remember it's going to be used for both the Columbia card and the professor's seating charts - So, I wanted to make sure it's not too cutesy and somewhat professional attire.

Yeah, ditto that. Also, just looking around AdmitNet, I was surprised at the number of people that did not follow the instructions, and the number that have Facebook profile like pictures up. ha

mini-present (I use the term loosely) from columbia in the mail today! I live in Manhattan. Those elsewhere might have to wait a day or two.
