Yep. First week sounds right according to my obsessive scouring of last year's threads for approximate timelines of events. Also, just checked and it looks like the new student site has been updated with 2010 dates, so if that is right it is August 9th that we can expect our schedules. https://support.law.cornell.edu/student ... udents.cfm

Of course, it doesn't really matter that much to me, but if I was allowed to choose my section that would be the one I pick.

I got my plus loan approval in the mail without doing the app (just the entrance counseling and promissory note). hth.

According to the website, I finished the MPN and counseling July 2nd. And I got the letter a couple days ago, I want to say Saturday.

I'm not planning to get there until August 13th and I'll be doing AOP which begins Aug 16th. Don't plan on finding a place to live until I arrive...and I have a dog which makes finding housing especially fun.

I received the AOP invite as well. I'm not attending. I don't want to start school a week early, and from what I've heard, the workload during AOP is supposed to simulate what 1L is like, void of any academic value. No need to enter hell a week early IMO.

The money is a plus, but I strongly recommend everyone invited attend if they can. It really is a useful experience.

does anyone else think that only inviting minorities and LGBT students to a program that teaches you how to brief a case and prepares you for the Socratic method is a bit insulting? why do they assume we need the extra help, while white/straight students don't?

I agree. I like the way UC Hastings arranges their incoming program. They provide additional services during the school year to help non-traditional law students, if they are struggling. Sticking people in a class for a week is probably not all that helpful, and if it is, it’s a little bit insulting. *shrug*
