Not so sure, tuition hasn't been set yet and wont be until May/June. How they are guessing aid w/o tuition set is beyond me but thats how they roll. I'm going to ask Fin aid how solid their prediction is.

Let us know what you find out. I would bet that it is pretty close, since the state budget has been set now, they probably have a pretty good idea how things are going to shake out. When I got my financial aid award this time last year, they had estimated correctly what tuition would be even though it was not officially set yet, and there was an increase of somewhere in the neighborhood of 15% last year.

Called financial aid office today, could be several weeks or a day until my award is finalized. Guess I will cross my fingers.

I did sign up for my net ID, pretty easy, just have to call the registrar for your secret code, and my preliminary award does have a 6k tuition exemption, really hoping that does not go away.

Sorry, should have posted a link to begin with, not really sure why I didn't. Looks like QueueToo took care of it.

So I THOUGHT my financial aid offer finally came through yesterday when I received a letter from financial aid... but when I finally got logged into myUW and looked at it, turns out it was for the MPA program instead (based solely on the tuition rate used - it doesn't actually say anywhere what program the aid is for?!). How long does it take to put out financial aid offers?! Any other non-residents still waiting on theirs?

does UW have any sort of roommate site or finder for law students/grad students? I haven't been able to find anything but it seems like it would be one of the more helpful tools...

I was wondering the same thing. Much better to have a 2 bedroom for $1400 as opposed to a 1 bedroom for $900 (plus splitting of cable and internet).

I called Fin Aid about a month ago and was told that I should calculate a 14% increase to this year's tuition rate. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...

Well I'm not really looking at housing now (wouldn't want to start a lease until August or September ideally), but if anyone's interested in rooming to save on cost, let me know (though I have two small hypo allergenic dogs).
I was browsing through craigslist at work today and found this place
--LinkRemoved--
$1700 for 3 bedroom with hardwood floors, ~quarter of a mile from the law school seems nice.

--LinkRemoved--
This 2 bedroom for $1350 is also ~.25 miles away.

Hey if anyone is looking for housing, I have had a great experience with http://www.uwhousing4rent.com. The owner/managers are very nice, prompt, and willing to go an extra step or two for their tenants, even after they have received payment. I just got the one bedroom unit c on 18th, and the price seemed very fair compared to what's out there. Under 10 minutes to campus, and just far north enough to get out of the greek noise and be in a residential area. Converted mansion that is slightly 'older' in nature.

I also looked at unit E, and decided to pass on it, but the price is not that bad, and it has a very large common area and two full closets and a lot of room, just a slightly out-dated kitchen.

Did not look at the Ravenna unit, but looks much more modern and is even closer to UW, but the neighborhood does not look as nice.

I currently live in Unit #5 at the Ravenna location. Great spot to be during the school year. However, if you have a car, you will need to get a zone 6 parking permit or else face several $50 tickets.

Dont know if this has been posted yet but here goes.

http://www.washington.edu/admin/pb/home ... annual.pdf

This is official from the new budget that has been passed.

Looking slightly better than the expected 14 percent (I think its around 10). Look for Master of Law and Law (JD).

Unless my math is failing me, it looks like it was 13.8% for nonresident students. Nonresident student tuition and fees in 2009-2010 was $32,777 and according to your chart, it's gone up to $37,299. That's an increase of $4,522.

$4,522 / $32,777 * 100 = 13.796%

For resident students, the news is a bit better at 9.3%. 2009-2010 = $22,267, this year = $24,339. That's an increase of $2,072.

$2,072 / $22,267 * 100 = 9.305%

Just got a $6000 grant added to my financial aid award. Not sure if they changed the EFC cutoff for receiving the grant, if we were just misinformed before, or what, but I'm pretty happy about it.

Anyone have any thoughts about the choice between curriculum A and Curriculum B? I'm leaning towards A, but haven't fully decided.

I chose B. A rising 3L friend of mine said the instructors for Con-torts are all really good while A can be hit or miss. Also, he says you have less reading. I'm not lazy but considering the amount of work I'll be doing already, wouldn't mind a somewhat lighter load. My .02.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
