I went to UG in Madison - will be applying this fall, but it's not my first choice. Been living in NYC for a while now, and don't think I can do 3 more years in Mad-town.

Leinie's or New Glarus?

I visited Madison and absolutely fell in love with it. However, I want to return to NY/NJ after graduation, so I don't think UW would be the best choice for me if I am set on going back to NY. But if I were open to working anywhere after graduation, I would certainly have given UW a real close look.

Neither. Ale Asylum kicks both their asses.

That looks mighty tasty. I still stock up on New Glarus whenever I visit Wisconsin from Minnesota.

Would dearly love to apply to UW, but the out of state tuition is too high and I've been told they don't offer much aid.

They rejected my merit-based fee waiver request, saying they don't give out merit fee waivers. Is that their nice way of saying my numbers aren't high enough, or are they really that stingy

Hmm maybe you have to visit or something so they can see you are serious. I'm not too heartbroken, it isn't in my top couple choices

Ahhhhhh! If it was somehow on a weekend I'd definitely be there to meet some potential classmates, but unfortunately work beckons.

I'm applying. I'd actually really like to go to Wisconsin. It's sad they don't offer money... I can't even get a merit-based fee waiver out of them.

I don't know your numbers but they rejected my merit-based fee waiver request as well when I was above both of their 75 percentiles. Although, I heard they give them out if you visit a forum or tour the campus. I'm still planning on applying and hoping that I can get a merit-based scholarship even though it is unlikely.

Aw, who couldn't pick Leinie's.
My dad grew up in Wisconsin, and its just such a great school. A lot of my cousins went there, and I'm definitely applying. Then I'd be able to use my family's season tickets to Lambeau more regularly.

thats nice to hear. anyone know if they do any "scholarships" in the form of just granting a non-resident resident tuition?
