Also it's thalassocrat, not the lassocrat, but don't worry. Happens all the time.
ごめんね!日本語が分かるん?
I've been mostly lurking, but since Japanese was posted...
少しはできる!大学で勉強したけど、このごろあまり話さない。。。
Well, that was probably all kinds of grammatically incorrect. How long have you been living in Nara? I've been there a couple of times, though last time a deer tried to eat part of my sweater
Also, my lease says I'm on the 3rd floor of the LC. Are bathrooms on the 2nd floor?
僕は大学でぜんぜん勉強しなかった、でも今まで一年半ぐらい日本住んでいる。僕の文法はいつもちがおでもペラーペラー好きやで!
Also, on a thread related note, I am kind of jealous I'm not in the LC. I can't wait to move into my apartment though! Is anyone interested in a BBQ during orientation week? Apparently my apartment has a nice backyard, that will be useful for all of 2 months of the school year haha.
へえ、一年間半だけでそんなに上手になったの?感動するよ!
And BBQ sounds great!
It's so nice to see all these future students being...nice!

heheh thanks, but I'm definitely not 上手 I will admit I've picked it up well. But I'm a language nerd. I want to be a diplomat so learning a new language makes me jizz in my pants.
As for this thread seriously...I am SO happy to be a part of the A2 community. I started reading One L on the train today and 60 pages in I wanted to vomit all over myself. This thread helps me feel like Michigan isn't like that at all.

If I'm not mistaken, O is at the very end, closest to the law library. I'll check tomorrow and let you know if I'm wrong.
P is the last block but it's currently being used as clinic office space. Students live in A-O blocks. Fun fact: There is no I-Block.

I feel like the biggest weirdo, but I read 1L before I started studying for my LSAT and I was kinda like.... meh, doesn't seem that bad. Maybe my expectations were way too high.

For those of you who got your leases, how did you receive them?
I was stupid and procrastinated sending the form out. I got an email confirming I would be offered a lease, but I'm worried about getting suck in one of the "economy" rooms because the people at ASW told me those are brutal.

I'm curious about the age and gender breakdown of the lawyers club. Will people who are planning to live there share their stats? I know it's probably a biased sampling but just thought I'd investigate. Feel free to PM me if you don't feel like posting on this page. Thanks!

Wait, why do you want to know the stats of people within the LC?
Mine are in my profile and I'm a 23 yr old dude.
EDIT: Oh wait, I took "stats" to mean GPA and LSAT, since that's what they normally mean on this board, heh.

For reals. I love my classmates already!
I've never rented a place in the US from a real estate agent- do you normally have to pay them a fee?
Not usually. You may have to pay a small application fee for a credit check. The property owner reimburses the real estate agent for placing the tenant.

It depends on the city. In New York City many places have broker's fees, which range from one month's rent to around 12% of a year's rent. It's rough.

I went to check today, but they're shooting another movie in the quad.
Also, if people need help moving in for the fall, feel free to shoot me a PM. I'll be down to help after summer session finals.
I can't volunteer to pick anyone up from the airport, though. I don't think you want your first Ann Arbor experience to be my car breaking down on I-94.

Another first floor kid here. I'm A11-1. How do I tell which side that's on/what I have a view of?
MY OLD ROOM! It's nice!
You're facing the South U. side. It gets pretty loud on the Thurs. - Sun. night in the Fall.
But that room is ballin'. Especially with the bathroom.
Awesome! Glad to hear it! PM'd you.

Is there cable in the LC? Because I don't know what I'll do without 'Glee.'

I believe that cable is charged separately to your student account. It isn't a mandatory fee, though - if you don't want it, it's easy to cancel.
