For those of us who are reasonably certain that they will attend FSU in the fall.

Really? My acceptance letter and subsequent scholarship offer listed April 1st as the first deposit deadline. Are you sure about that May 1st deadline?ksd05c wrote:My letter gave me a May 1st deadline, but I went ahead and sent it in.wiggsb wrote:When is the seat deposit deadline?ksd05c wrote:Right here!!! still figuring that out...but i'm trying to stay on the cheaper side, so ~$700. but i want to live alone for 1L, which makes things more expensive i knowTuyarp wrote:What's your budget for rent?
i really like the idea of the southwood carriage houses (little studios that people rent out that are above their garages). they seem really nice and in a good area (i guess a little far from school though). seems like they run anywhere from $700 to $850 including utilities. it seems more like a family area, than an undergrad area, which is what i want.mango26 wrote:still figuring that out...but i'm trying to stay on the cheaper side, so ~$700. but i want to live alone for 1L, which makes things more expensive i knowTuyarp wrote:What's your budget for rent?
agreed. i'm a pretty private person too, and living with someone i haven't known for a while would be weird for me.Tuyarp wrote:Your sanity is well worth the price tag. 1L is stressful enough without the potential drama from a roommate.
The closer properties to the school seem a tad shabby, in my opinion. Londontown Apartments is 3 miles from the law school; it got good reviews and its 1/1 starts at $650. Might be worth it to check it out.
That does sound pretty nice. The price tag doesn't seem too bad. How far is it from the school, though? I wouldn't want to spend too much time commuting back and forth. That time could be spent working on memosmango26 wrote:i really like the idea of the southwood carriage houses (little studios that people rent out that are above their garages). they seem really nice and in a good area (i guess a little far from school though). seems like they run anywhere from $700 to $850 including utilities. it seems more like a family area, than an undergrad area, which is what i want.mango26 wrote:still figuring that out...but i'm trying to stay on the cheaper side, so ~$700. but i want to live alone for 1L, which makes things more expensive i knowTuyarp wrote:What's your budget for rent?
according to mapquest, ~7 miles, i have no idea what that means in terms of time, i'm unfamiliar with tallahassee trafficTuyarp wrote:That does sound pretty nice. The price tag doesn't seem too bad. Hmm, 3-4 miles can take up to 15 mins in traffic and 9-10 w/o traffic. So, 7 miles might be 25-30 in traffic and 15-20 w/o. I'm not familiar with Tallahassee either, this is all just a guess.mango26 wrote: according to mapquest, ~7 miles, i have no idea what that means in terms of time, i'm unfamiliar with tallahassee traffic
or suggestions on whether or not it is advisable to have a roommate(s) the first year.highdraws wrote:I'm also wondering about where I'm going to live. Any current FSU students out there that can make a few suggestions?
