For those of us who are reasonably certain that they will attend FSU in the fall.

Really? My acceptance letter and subsequent scholarship offer listed April 1st as the first deposit deadline. Are you sure about that May 1st deadline?

Anyway, it is looking increasingly likely that I will be attending FSU. Anyone going to the ASD next week?

put my seat deposit down and will be attending ASD on 26th... unless I hear back from my super-reach school, I will be joining the class of 2013 in the fall.

i'm out of state and will probably visit again sometime in late april to look at places. i can't decide if i want to live near the school. it seems like the places across from the school aren't as nice as options farther away. but, i would like to be able to walk to school. i'll likely be one of those people who is at school until late at night though, so i don't know if walking is a safe idea?
i will definitely have a car though, so living close isn't necessary. living somewhere that is quiet is more important to me than being close. so basically, anywhere that isn't 100% undergrad students.

still figuring that out...but i'm trying to stay on the cheaper side, so ~$700. but i want to live alone for 1L, which makes things more expensive i know

Your sanity is well worth the price tag. 1L is stressful enough without the potential drama from a roommate.

The closer properties to the school seem a tad shabby, in my opinion. Londontown Apartments is 3 miles from the law school; it got good reviews and its 1/1 starts at $650. Might be worth it to check it out.

i really like the idea of the southwood carriage houses (little studios that people rent out that are above their garages). they seem really nice and in a good area (i guess a little far from school though). seems like they run anywhere from $700 to $850 including utilities. it seems more like a family area, than an undergrad area, which is what i want.

agreed. i'm a pretty private person too, and living with someone i haven't known for a while would be weird for me.
i'll look at londontown, thanks for the advice.

That does sound pretty nice. The price tag doesn't seem too bad. How far is it from the school, though? I wouldn't want to spend too much time commuting back and forth. That time could be spent working on memos

Hmm, 3-4 miles can take up to 15 mins in traffic and 9-10 w/o traffic. So, 7 miles might be 25-30 in traffic and 15-20 w/o. I'm not familiar with Tallahassee either, this is all just a guess.

Nice of you to join us, snuggle.

I'm also wondering about where I'm going to live. Any current FSU students out there that can make a few suggestions?

or suggestions on whether or not it is advisable to have a roommate(s) the first year.
