Re: UNC c/o 2013
Anyone up for lifting weights and/or some easy pick up basketball games twice per week after the semester starts? I was thinking we could find 45 min to an hour between (or right after) classes.

At ASD the fin.aid person said they are supposed to be dispersed the first day of classes but there's always a possibility it could be earlier. I spoke with several current students who said they received their funds a few weeks before classes started.solotee wrote:Anyone know when the Federal loans disburse for fall of 2010?

Looks like it will be UNC next year. Has everybody found a place to live?

Re: UNC c/o 2013
Hi everyone!
If anyone is looking for a roommate, I have a good friend (female) who is looking for someone to share an apartment near South Point. The apartment complex is really nice and rent is super cheap (~$500/month). She's working in RTP next year and is hoping for a student or quiet person to live with. PM me if you're interested!
*I'm not rooming with her only because I already signed a lease.

Was that LEAP email a mass email?

anyone have any thoughts on the glen lennox cottages vs. shadowood apartments. i'm deciding between a one-bedroom at glen lennox on hayes (facing the highway) and a two-bedroom townhome style at shadowood.

Yeah, I think it was a mass email. Anyone planning to apply? I am on the fence.LSATfromNC wrote:Was that LEAP email a mass email?

Re: UNC c/o 2013
I'm considering it, although it sounds like since I'm a "traditional" student I may not qualify. Any UNC students who can speak to a. how competitive LEAP is to get into and b. how useful it ends up being?Favor2010 wrote:Yeah, I think it was a mass email. Anyone planning to apply? I am not doing the LEAP thing, if that adds anything. I feel like it is just like "how to take notes" etc etc. Stuff you probably already know quite well.

It's my understanding that all students are open to apply, if you feel it would be beneficial for you. Since they add the LEAP express program (when they have enough interests), I would assume its not that competitive.

I got that feel from it too, actually. But I've been out of school for a year and have been working a pretty mindless retail job in the meantime...maybe this would get me back into school mode?Matteliszt wrote:I am not doing the LEAP thing, if that adds anything. It's up to you obviously, but I wouldn't do it in your situation. My guess is it is going to be insanely trivial for you. I think it is aimed at people who haven't been in school for 10+ years.

Yeah, it seems that way. BTW...I didn't end up applying for it.Matteliszt wrote:It's up to you obviously, but I wouldn't do it in your situation. My guess is it is going to be insanely trivial for you. I think it is aimed at people who haven't been in school for 10+ years.

Re: UNC c/o 2013
Anyone try logging into My Carolina Law (my.law.unc.edu)? I was able to log in today...found a 1L book list! Although that won't really be useful until we know what section we're in, I suppose.
eta: there's also a photo directory of all UNC Law students. Headshots of everyone in business attire....is it me, or is that kinda weird? Like, faculty I can see, but students? Ehh whatever, I just hate having my picture taken

One of the past emails from UNC mentioned that they'll be mailing our section/schedule to us in early August, woot.Matteliszt wrote:Just looked at my.law.unc.edu. Pretty cool. Hey guys. I just got off the wait list yesterday. If there are any 1L's looking for a roommate I need one. Thanks.

That's pretty neat, but I do not own a suit. I wonder when they take these pictures.mytwocents wrote:Anyone try logging into My Carolina Law (my.law.unc.edu)? I was able to log in today...found a 1L book list! Although that won't really be useful until we know what section we're in, I suppose.

I was thinking the same thing. Hope they have one of those faux-tux fronts like they let us wear for senior pictures in high school.
