For those of us (you know who you are

) seriously considering IU to make contacts and learn more about the school.
Right now, the only hesitation I have is the location. If I can get a greater sense of portability for the degree, it might make my decision a lot smoother. I want to clerk and then go into either NPO or Federal Gov't (DOJ/EPA preferably).

I'm 99% sure I am going to IU. I don't know exactly what I want to do after LS, but I think I want to be in the midwest, probably Chicago.
I'm visiting campus in a couple weeks - hopefully all of my great expectations of IU will be confirmed!

I have grown more and more interested in IU since I actually applied. Hopefully I have a decent shot at admission, and I think it will be a real consideration when decision time comes.
I visited a few friends a couple years ago at IU and I have to say I was impressed with the campus. It definitely has a typical Big Ten college town feel, but at the same time there is kind of a charm I can't really explain.
I am also worried about how a degree from IU transfers to Chicago, though. IU has a strong hold on Indianapolis though, correct? I know it is a smaller market, but I hear Indianapolis is actually a great city.

It's true that there is a lot of competition for the Chicago market. I turned down a full ride at Chicago-Kent, though, being confident that IU will open more doors than Kent, despite its location. I could be wrong, but I think IU's reputation is growing rapidly in the region. I agree that the campus is quite remarkable, and the QOL is likely to be quite high. I couldn't be more excited about the next three years of my life!

I will definitely get pics and post them here.
I will be talking to financial aid people while I am there, and I will discuss this with them. I'll let you know.

It is no-strings attached. You simply have to pass classes (and it is nearly impossible to fail in this day and age) and refrain from academic dishonesty. It's really sweet deal.
Anyone see the Minnesota/Indiana game? Really good effort. Watford/Jones are going to be fun to watch in the next couple of years.

I didn't get to see it - I noticed it was on the Big Ten Network. IU's got a really bright future in that men's basketball team. An OT win against Tubby Smith is great for them.

Emailed Dean Motley about "satisfactory progress." It refers to a 2.3 GPA, fwiw.
He also said he would get back to me on whether they will offer a travel stipend for the Spring Law Day.

I'm an IU undergrad that also applied. If you've never been to Bloomington you really need to visit. IU is the ideal college town. I visited Ohio State the other day and was also impressed with that school. An IU degree with surely serve you well throughout the Midwest.

I think it would probably be pretty difficult to get a 2.3 GPA. I was under the impression that IU didn't even give out C's to 1L's.

Good info - let the rest of us know about the stipend when you hear back from him

If money was equal between IU, ND, Illinois and Iowa which would you guys choose?

Honestly I'd have to say UIUC, but for me money is not equal, and so I am leaning IUB in real life.

This is only because I want to work in Chicago, though, and I feel that UIUC would open slightly more doors in the Chicago market. I like IUB better as a school, though.

Unfortunately not. They have been giving decisions pretty strictly 5-6 weeks after going complete.

I put this is the other thread, but feel free to come over to the discuss your law school thread and talk to us 1ls about everything. We can give a pretty honest opinion on job prospects, how the school runs, bloomington info and tons of other good stuff, and now that grades are finally coming in we are probably a bit more relaxed

I'm getting really, really excited about my trip to Bloomington. I haven't been there in four years, but I will probably be spending the next three there, and I'm pumped about having the opportunity to get out there soon.
