don't know if this is the right crowd for this question, but has anyone received or heard of someone receiving an offer from The New York City Law Department?

Got an email saying application was received beginning of September. Applied late August. Haven't heard of anyone getting an interview yet.

op here. for the poster above, the law dept. participated in our OCI and conducted callbacks much like a firm would. my cb was two weeks ago. i got the impression that they did most of their 2L hiring that way.

any sense of how a job with the ny law dept. would look on a resume a few years down the line, compared with, say, a V20 firm? Would one be able to lateral into the private sector later, if money became an issue?

has anyone heard from them recently?

applied through oci. 2 rounds of interviews.

what's the second round like? similar to a firm callback where you meet with 4-6 lawyers or just another 20-30 minute interview with one person?

what kind of questions do they ask anyway? is it similar to a law firm interview (i.e. mostly "fit" questions)?

second round involved three interviews. i got plenty of substantive questions in the first, more of a relaxed atmosphere in the second, and the third focused wholly on which divisions I preferred and why.
