Cornell's biglaw placement outpaces its rank for whatever reason. Even in the down economy they continue to consistently place over 50% of their class into biglaw. Georgetown is huge, and so struggles percentage wise with placement. I would say top 35% were good. Top 45% is mixed. Below that, some will get midlaw SAs, the rest... idk.

Edit: Also a GULCer here.

Georgetown student here. Most people I know ended up with at least 15 interviews during OCI. The median after bidding was 10 (OCS told us this). Then multiple firms had shadow schedules and/or (at least in DC) screened additional candidates in their offices.

Cornell: Below median student, 24 screening interviews in NYC and Boston, 11 CBs, 2+ offers.

Firms like Cornellians.

Cornell slightly below median, 17 screening interviews in NYC, 12 CBs, 5 offers

Cornell is the perfect example of why people shouldn't follow the law school rankings to a "T."

People should consider the Ivy League law schools (+ Stanford and Chicago) first, and then consider the other law schools. I personally feel bad for people who automatically don't attend Cornell because they got into a "higher ranked" law school that wasn't UPenn, UChicago, Columbia, or better. Cornell's placement is almost always been better than NYU's overall (possibly not with certain firms, of course).

Not that I have a better estimate, but I would guess this one is a little too optimistic. I know a good number of people in the top 1/3 that are struggling.

For whatever it's worth I am GULC, top 5%, with a few offers in DC and some cancelled NY callbacks.

Really? Lmao. Last year was an anomaly (which may continue, of course), but to say that it has been the norm is patently false.

No, 2009 was an anomaly. I don't know about Cornell v. NYU, but historically Cornell has always been up there with the T6+Penn. Do a search yourself.

And I thought I was special. Slightly below median at Cornell as well. 13 CBs. 3 offers so far.

Cornell has good placement when you look at the V100 as a whole. Placement into the most selective firms? Not so much.

Cornell's placement is more comparable to Duke, not the T6.

As far as I know, S&C (at least in the last two years, due to high recommendation from a newly-hired rainmaker-turned-prof) and STB really like Cornellians. I think Cornell's historical placement is better than Duke's within V100-V10, and comparable to Duke's within V10.

Presence in the V5:

NYU: 333
Columbia: 467

Cornell: 83

Cornell has a whopping 14 people at S&C, while NYU has 62 and Columbia has 92.

If it's better, it's very very minimally so.

Your failure to take class size into consideration is very problematic.

So take class size into account. I didn't think it would take a genius to do so. Jesus, no wonder you're at Cornell (maybe I'm wrong in assuming you are). Unless you want to tell me that NYU is four times the size of Cornell and Columbia is roughly six times Cornell's size, the numbers still scream that Cornell sucks (relatively so) at placement into the most elite firms.

Again, difference in class size.

Also, "last two years".
