Say you strike out at OCI during your JD years--could you go on to do an LLM to get another shot at trying to land biglaw? What if you want to work in another part of the country but don't have any ties--would getting an LLM in the area of the country you wish to work be a good idea?

I went to a firm panel at Weil. Someone asked this question. Weil responded with "Most LLM's are useless, but an LLM from a top school will help." The person said, "So an LLM from Columbia, NYU, or Cornell?"
Weil said, "Yes, a LLM from Columbia or NYU will certainly help."

An LLM from NYU in Tax = useful.
An LLM in anything else from anywhere else = LAWYERS LOSING MONEY...
So in short.. I would avoid the LLM in "comparative rain forest saver-guy and cross border endangered pigeon saving" from the University of Scrantalamazoo School of Legal stuff....
