Summer Suit Sale
(As in Summer Suits -- poplin, linen, cotton/wool blend, seersucker -- are currently on sale).

Hitting up the Charles Tyrwhitt shirt+tie sale, wondering which of these three ties would look best (least obtrusive) with a white shirt and this suit:
Solid Red
Sold Blue
Navy with dots
I have some striped ties in assorted navy and red, but no solid/small dots. I have a terrible eye for style, so I run straight to this thread for help.

Actually, semi-OT question: is it kosher to wear non-wool suits to work once in a while as a junior associate (not to an interview or to court, obviously)? West coast biglaw, dress code is on the dressy end of business casual/casual end of business formal.BVest wrote:Summer Suit SaleFirst Offense wrote:What? Re: OCI/callbacks/etc Men's Clothing Mega-thread
Returns and exchanges are free. I had to do an exchange last time (they sent me a shirt with french cuffs even though the order said button cuffs). It was no problem, but it ended up taking them like three weeks to send me the new shirt.sublime wrote:How the fuck does CT have 15.5/37 and 17/37, but no 16/37.
I was told I was borderline 15.5/16, but should probably go 16, although I need shirts, so I am really tempted to grab some 15.5's and try to make it work.
Does anybody know how they are on returns?
Also, if you're between neck sizes, you definitely want to size up with CT. I got my usual size and I feel like I'm being strangled by the shirt collar.

Re: OCI/callbacks/etc Men's Clothing Mega-thread
Can anybody tell me what the deal is with the Brooks Brothers Friends and Family Sale? I got a card in the mail that says it's good for an additional 25% off my purchase. Do they usually have in-store discounts for this sale? Or is this just going to get me 25% off MSRP?

Sometimes they stack, sometimes they don't. I went in one time and used my Alumni Discount, Student Discount, and current sale and bought 4 slim fit polos for under $40 total. You'll just have to ask them when you're in the shop. If you have a college/law student school ID, ask if they have a student discount and use that as well. Many times they all stack up.rogermurdoch wrote:Can anybody tell me what the deal is with the Brooks Brothers Friends and Family Sale? My area BB factory stores have 40-70% off and do not apply the 25% friends and family discount on top of that. Both sales associates I spoke to told me BB corporate specifically said not to, so I doubt it's a store-by-store decision.rogermurdoch wrote:Can anybody tell me what the deal is with the Brooks Brothers Friends and Family Sale? You know, you can just use the delete button for a post if no one has responded yet.Anonymous User wrote:.
Ironically, I've now foreclosed that option by offering this advice.

Could someone refer me a good tailor in Brooklyn Heights or Lower Manhattan? (Or direct me to the appropriate the appropriate thread?)

Re: OCI/callbacks/etc Men's Clothing Mega-thread
Do you guys know when the BB semi-annual sale should be this year? This month right?
Also, what is the difference in the levels of BB suits? I know I could probably figure this out by going through the thread or using other Internetz search tools, but if someone could just answer, I would appreciate it.

I just purchased a navy Z Zegna Trim Fit suit, but now I have buyer's regret. The suit looks great and feels good, and I'll be wearing AE Park Aves and a white, spread-collar Boss shirt, but is it conservative enough for OCIs?

Do you have better options available? It's pretty bold for OCI.

Thanks for your advice, man. I feel like a schmuck! Is it the slimness of the suit that's too bold? The navy is more muted IRL than the photo suggests. Is the spread collar okay, or would I be better off with the slim-fit BB shirt?

Spread collar shirt and slim suit are fine, it's that pattern that would make me hesitant

Since you're thin it should look a hell of a lot better than a brooks bros suit, who's slimmest cut is still cut for fats

Sorry, that's my mistake: the suit I bought is plain navy with no pattern. All good?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
