those 2 tones were bad, man. looked like the aborted dress shoe offspring of jordan 3's and jumpman team FBI's. the cheapest solid black (or burgundy) shoe you can find would be an upgrade.

Nope. Only half read the title. My school doesn't have an OCI thread on here.

ah, i see. well, here's an old thread. if you want a more recent update, i'd just hijack one of the other schools' threads and ask about it there. you're anon, so no one will know! i have no idea which schools are more helpful than others. i'd tell you to start your own thread, but that doesn't seem to have gone super well in the past.

Thanks for the help. Yea, that 2010 one didn't go well. Although, I think that was pretty recently after they Latham'd all those people haha.

Is this suit too light for CBs? It's like dark gray or charcoal gray.

Is there a cliff notes on men's dress anywhere in this thread? I need to buy a couple more suits for work and shoes. i'm clueless and looking for help (NYC biglaw).

Main questions"
1) style/cut of suit? (slimfit?)
2) colors of suits
3) different weight suits for when it is colder? (I have an overcoat)

Search this thread for a post by puffer (maybe spelled pufer, I forget). It's all you need, though it's slightly more conservative than you'd need for everyday work wear (it's focused on OCI).

General tips:
- navy and charcoal suits are always correct
- medium gray is a good color that's a hair less formal
- I would do slim fit if it's gonna look good on you, but I'd personally be leery of aggressively tailored clothes for a work environment (I.e., there's a fine line as to what constitutes too slim)
- re: fabric weights. I'd skew towards normal 3-season wool suits and summer weight suits (only in summer, only if necessary). Someone who works in Chicago can probably recommend a cold weather suit, but I don't really see the need.

Are belts important enough to spend a lot of $ on?

No, although don't underrate a nice belt in the future.

The color is fine and overall the suit is mostly fine but I'm not so sure about the patch pockets on the jacket for a business formal occasion. I like patch pockets on blazers/sportcoats but not so much for suits. I think the standard flap pocket is the safest bet. Is there any reason you don't want to go for the Napoli cut from SS? Better price, no patch pockets, and probably negligible difference in quality. Will have a similar grey as well. The Napoli from SS is pretty much the standard law student interview suit from SS. Just my thoughts

Agree with poster above. Whyyyyyyy the patch pockets?? Save yourself $100 and get a much more versatile suit and get this Napoli http://us.suitsupply.com/en_US/suits/na ... cgid=Suits

Or save yourself $200 and get this grey Napoli: http://us.suitsupply.com/en_US/suits/na ... cgid=Suits

Or ditch the grey and get this sharp York in Navy for $499: http://us.suitsupply.com/en_US/suits/yo ... cgid=Suits

All are cheaper and more versatile options. If you already have a ton of suits and are really jonesing for a patch pocket suit (again whhhyyyy!?) then knock yourself out, but if you are looking to build out your business professional wardrobe I would stick with more classic, traditional staples - and avoid more trendy touches (e.g. patch pockets, ticket pockets). Despite their sartorial roots, things like ticket pockets are more trendy than they are conventional/traditional.

I shop at SS. I can spot the Napoli because it looks cheap compared to the Sienna. Tons of kids on CBs were wearing the Napoli. Spring to get the Sienna. It's a nicer constructed suit and will look better on you assuming you are not a total porker. It is worth the delta.

I've tried on the sienna as well and its definitely a decent suit but if we're talking about a few hundred more dollars there are some other options to consider as well. Also, the ticket pocket is not credited for an interview suit IMO (for the reasons stated by the poster above). It is just safer to find something with standard flap pockets. Spring for the sienna after you've been on the job a few weeks. The Napoli looks like a cheaper suit (although it's better than other suits in the same price band) but its fine for LS interviews. I don't think interviewers necessarily expect you to be rocking a $1,000 suit, they just want to see that you know how to exercise judgment in the way you present yourself.

Also you don't have to be a porker to not fit into those skinny SuSu pants.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
