Casetext / CoCounsel Thoughts?

Sup TLS, been a few years. I'm a former Big Law associate, was at one time somewhat active on here, who left the profession to become a software engineer after practicing for a little while.
I have an interview with Thomson Reuters to work as a SWE on CoCounsel. Since I didn't use Casetext/CoCounsel back when I was practicing, I was wondering if anyone could offer up insight into their experience with it. Is it useful, what kinds of tasks have you used it for, how do you see juniors vs. seniors vs. partners using it, etc.?
I'm sure some people will also want to ask me some questions about my transition from lawyer to SWE. I'm going to do my best to stay anonymous because I think it'd be fairly easy for me to be identified, not that I'm super shy about my journey.

CoCounsel is legit. Their GenAI legal research tools are the best that exist (but are now generally integrated into Westlaw Precision so not entirely clear which of them, if any, are still "CoCounsel"). Their doc review tools however are probably going to die on the vine because, while they work, they will probably be unable to compete with GenAI review tools that are built into hosting platforms (Relativity, DISCO, etc.). The problem with CoCo's doc review tools is CoCo is not a hosting platform so a lot of friction and inconvenience arises from having to shuttle huge volumes of docs between CoCo and your hosting platform, and having to deal with review results that appear in a big, unwieldy excel spreadsheet rather than via tags within the hosting platform itself (much easier to work with the latter for QC and other purposes). All the hosting platforms are rolling out GenAI review tools that may make CoCo's doc review obsolete. So in sum: What is likely to be useful in the long run are the legal research tools, most of which may not even be considered "CoCounsel" anymore (though the details of that are not entirely clear to me). If you're being hired solely to work on the doc review tools, while I don't know what exactly they have in the pipeline, that part of the business may be on its way to obsolescence.
