Particularly interested in SDNY/EDNY/DNJ. What are the hours in the first few years?

I’ve heard it’s big law hours (with better flexibility and more satisfaction) — but still, big law hours.

Does anyone have visibility?

The hours are rough. AUSAs are working til midnight or later. But it comes with the job. And if you love it enough, you won't mind. You will have a lot more autonomy over your cases. If you want a 9-5 gig, go to a DA's office. Many have white collar units that will enable you to work on investigations.

I think it varies largely depending on whether you are on trial or not. If you're on trial, the trial is all-consuming. If you're off trial, from what I observed at USAOs in two major districts (I interned for one of the districts above), you largely set your own hours. Most AUSAs I saw were in the office from 9-6, and worked remotely often.
