Lateraling to London

New York Capital Markets rising second year here. Mostly doing bonds and other debt work. Would love to lateral to London for the experience and to take advantage of COLA. Two questions:
1. Should I just apply directly to the firms or go through a recruiter?
2. Is it the norm that American firms are offering COLA adjustment, but not English firms?

I think getting in touch with maybe graduates from your law school at said firms, for like an informational interview would work. Otherwise, I think recruiters are the way to go.
2. Is it the norm that American firms are offering COLA adjustment, but not English firms?
No, both do. Some UK firms offer more, some US firms offer more, but it generally is all in the same ballpark.
