Any advice for a new junior coming into big law with 4+ years of financial services experience?

Generally very comfortable in a corporate environment, emailing, interacting with people, etc.

Guess I’m most nervous about the first 6-12 months and how to best get settled, since the legal work itself I’ll be learning from scratch. Just remember how my first 6 months in fin was a steep curve.

Looking to be in biglaw long term if it matters.

Don't have an attitude that signals you think you somehow know what you're doing, or you're more advanced than your peers, or anything reeking of entitlement. Use your knowledge/experience to your own advantage while doing your job, and let people be pleasantly surprised by your competence (if you have any). Nothing worse than a junior who thinks they're hot shit for whatever reason.

Similar that I also had prior work experience (almost double of yours). It will help you hit the ground running for sure. You will have the confidence re how to talk to people, what to write in emails, etc. You will hopefully be mature, reliable, and take ownership of stuff. People like that. Go in with a positive attitude looking to grow and learn. Folks will respect that. I am sure you know many of your seniors may be younger than you but you should respect them for their legal experience as you will learn a lot from them.
