2L Summer/Big Law

I'm trying to decide between Houston offices of some of the Big firms (Kirkland, Sidley, STB), NYC (PW, DPW), and D.C. (Sidley, Kirkland, STB).

I am mainly interested in corporate groups (especially M&A/PE) with some curiosity for regulatory work. Unsure about long-term goals, professionally/geographically (I suppose will depend on my experience the first few years). Moving to the UK in a few years is another good possibility.

DC seems like a good balance between the lifestyle I am looking for/amount of opportunities as a junior. I would prefer TX from a lifestyle standpoint, while NYC would prob offer more opportunities.

Does anyone have insight into these firms/offices? Do you have any recommendations in terms of starting in a smaller market vs. the large NYC offices?

Thanks in advance!

DC -> regulatory seems like a more likely path to the UK than Houston -> M&A.

Wait why?

If anything the most likely path to the UK is doing capital markets?

I’ve never heard of regulatory lawyers practicing abroad but maybe I’m missing something.
