Currently sitting at a 3.55 at one of M/B/N. Top 15 of OCI list is as follows:
1. Gibson (NY)
2. Sidley (Chi)
3. K&E (Chi)
4. Jenner (Chi)
5. Winston (Chi)
6. K&E (NY)
7. Sidley (NY)
8. Jones Day (Chi)
9. Proskauer (NY)
10. A&P (NY)
11. Davis Polk (SF)
12. Skadden (Chi)
13. Debevoise (NY)
14. Perkins Coie (SF)
15. V&E (DC)
Assuming V&E and Skadden are reaches, but how do the other ones look? Targeting lit but willing to do corporate.

Put this in the OCI thread for your school. If one doesn't yet exist, start one! tell all your friends to use it

NYU has a harsher curve than most, don’t know if you’re lit or transactional, don’t know if you’re from one of these markets

only one DC bid for a firm with a tiny summer class seems like a waste

I assume you are lit focused. If you're more corporate, I'd remove Jenner. Also, unless Davis Polk has a big SF office, I'd swap out with NYC. V&E DC also makes little sense since it is small. Overall good list. Don't know class rank, assuming you're decently above median, then for Chicago you should be competitive for most of the Chi firms you put

Not sure why OP thinks Skadden would be harder to get than any of the other top Chi firms.
I'd agree if OP was corporate focused. Assuming Michigan (given the Chi heavy bid list), they'd have an ok but not great shot at the top Chi lit firms. Also weird that they're bidding K&E and Sidley for both Chi and NY - why not sub out the NY offices for places like STB and Cleary?
Agree V&E DC is very random. Targeting DC with a 3.55 just seems like a bad idea in general, but for a hail mary bid Gibson/Kirkland/Sidley/Latham/Skadden seems like the better choice.

This is a weird list. If you’re competitive for the top firms in Chicago, then you’d be competitive for the top firms in NY. And if you’re not, then without ties, you’re not competitive for SF lit (generally). DPW only has Palo Alto office I think, and Perkins is not a big lit player. I think you need to narrow your list of markets (limiting your chances of striking out), and include more matches and safeties. Even the Gibson NY office had high grade requirements, so it’s unclear why you’d bid them but not competitors with larger classes, e.g., P,W
