From Texas to home market later in career?

I go to regional school in NY, but am considering a 2L SA in Texas. 90% of our grads work in NY. If I spend a few years in Texas, is it possible to go home? I like Texas but not sure I want to be there long term. Both states are UBE.

This is not impossible by any means, but you will face headwinds and will need some really compelling explanations.

OP here. All my family is back home, as well as my law school. Compelling? Or will I need something more as far as practice group/professional reasons in Biglaw. My firm has an office there.

If you are truly from upstate New York, and you have biglaw experience elsewhere, every large firm in the big upstate cities (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse) will give you an interview and may have interest in you, especially firms in the area where you grew up. It will not be as bad as you might be told here.
