OP this sucks for you I'm sorry, but I would really delete this asap. If they just reneged completely sure, but this is just a two-week delay and you do not want this to blow up.

This isn’t a big deal - companies (law firms included) mess up payroll processing all the time. Almost always a late-communication (or no-communication) issue, and anecdotally tends to be a little more common at the end of the year, and during the summer (when payroll/other folks are on week+ vacations). Also a huge hassle to run a special payroll in between their regular dates, so if you’re getting the $ with just a two week delay, I’d really just let it go. There are way worse issues with law firm management that are actually worth getting spun up over.

This is very intelligent and said in few words. My compliments. Tend to your own knitting.

You are right to be upset, but only if the payroll delay actually made your life difficult. If my firm had done this 1L, I would have been in big trouble and would have needed to get a payday loan or something similar. Most of your peers (and almost all people at law firms) either never knew or have totally forgotten what it is like to live paycheck-to-paycheck with no support from parents and no one to ask for help even if you wanted to. Law schools require you to draw down all of your savings before they give need aid, so you can end up getting really whalloped if your employer says "whoops, wait two more weeks." And it is doubly insulting when the firm's messaging about the delay communicates the idea that this is not a big deal and that of course everyone should be able to absorb the delay. It makes you feel like an ousider, and like the firm doesn't care about you.

I also think you were right to delete your post, which as a I recall, did not mention any of these issues--or at least didn't focus on them. The tone indicated that you were mad about being disrespected by the firm, and how dare they change their plans, and aren't they such bad people for doing it. None of that is productive. Instead, if the delay affected you in a way beyond mere personal offense, you should communicate those facts to a partner you trust at your law firm. Not in an accusatory way (they may not even know), but in a dispassionate tone that just lays out what happened and why it messed up your plans.
